Why on earth do they give permission to build golf courses where there are public footpaths?! There are signs saying watch out, but its not like you can easily avoid a fecking golf ball wizzing at you. Hit me on the head, feel OK just but a towel with peas on it

O ffs obviously a golf ball, if it was gold I wouldn't of minded so much and would of ran away with it.

It was a horrid neon green ball!

Nasty. Definitely send a letter to the club with photos of your bump. They need to pu higher fence up or something. It could have killed you.

Salmotrutta · 11/04/2015 21:04

Did the golfer not shout "Fore" to alert you? Shock

That's the etiquette and they should have shouted!

You could try phoning the club secretary to complain if they didn't shout.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 11/04/2015 21:08

We used to live near a driving range and there were nets about 30 feet high running alongside the public footpath.

Definitely contact the club. Hope you feel well soon.

ljwales · 11/04/2015 21:08

There's no way to put up nets, the course runs right through the footpath, they put up notes saying this is private land and not to wonder off the footpath!

They didn't shout anything that I heard, but didn't even see them.

Sometimes things just happen. They are called "accidents" Hope you're head gets better soon.

Sometimes things just happen. They are called "accidents"

Indeed, thank you.

And sometimes, injuries are sustained because there is negligence of some sort, or if reasonable steps are not taken to avoid a foreseeable accident from happening.

I couldn't form a view on which of those scenarios applies here, as in my view, there is not enough information to do so.

OrlandoWoolf · 11/04/2015 21:23

Shouting "Fore" is great. If you can hear them

I walk near a golf club. Have never ever heard someone shout fore.

But I always look out if I know I am near a club. Because balls can go flying anyway. Hope you ok.

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2015 21:31

Are people playing golf in the dark? Confused

goldopals · 11/04/2015 21:48

Ick. I live opposite a golf course and get balls in my yard all the time

Ha, I thought maybe you'd won a prize of a lifetime like Willy Wonkas golden tickets!

Does sound crazy that there's a footpath right through the middle of a gold course.

bananayellow · 11/04/2015 22:01

"gold* and fore times again see what I did there

I'm not intentionally stalking you honest Grin

awfulomission · 11/04/2015 22:02

We walk our dog through the golf course and you just get used to stopping and waiting at certain points. A bit like crossing a road.

That must bloody hurt though, you poor thing! There are some terrible shots at our local course so the DSs minesweep all the golf balls lost in the woods!

Formysister218 · 11/04/2015 22:02

Hope you kept the ball.

Salmotrutta · 11/04/2015 22:04

Do you live near a golf course goldopals?

Grin
TheHoundsBitch · 11/04/2015 22:08

I was going to ask if people were playing Quidditch near you, then I saw it was a typo Blush Grin
I hope your head isn't too sore.

ljwales · 12/04/2015 08:26

Thanks, it is feel better today. Thank god I didn't need to go to a and e on a sat night.

Yes I know it's an accident, but would of not happened if they had not of given permission for a golf course right through a public footpath

chocolatelife · 12/04/2015 08:30
