DDfed from dirty bottle lined with stale milk

Help! Posting here for traffic.

So in a sleepy haze this morning, DH takes a bottle from the dishwasher not realised the stuff in there is dirty-and fills it for DD (nearly 1yo). It has stale milk remnants in there and would have been festering for 24 hours Sad

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has done something similar and their DC been ok?! She already has a cold coming on, bless her Sad

Thanks everyone x

She might be sick or get upset tummy but hopefully she'll just be ok

Children in deprived countries survive worse than this on a regular basis. Just because the best practise is to clean & sterilise, it doesn't mean the child WILL fall ill without it, it's just a greater possibility. At 1 year, your baby might get away with no effect. And even if she doesn't it can't be worse than a few loose stools I suppose. Don't dwell on it much...

Spotifymuse · 11/04/2015 11:05

Am sure she'll be absolutely fine. Easy mistake to make.

reni1 · 11/04/2015 11:16

She'll be fine. Drinking milk that's off isn't dangerous at that age and it might not even have been off, just dried on.

purplemurple1 · 11/04/2015 11:24

ds drank a full cup of milk that had been out overnight at arou d 14months with no ill affect . Hopefully yours will be fine too.

BlueThursday · 11/04/2015 11:28

I apparently drank window cleaner when I was that age so definitely could be worse than old milk!

Aeroflotgirl · 11/04/2015 11:29

Ive done that with my dcs Shock, forget to clean properly the remnants of the bottle, they have been fine.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 11/04/2015 11:31

Unpleasant to taste or smell, but unlikely to be dangerous. Don't worry OP, just one of those things.

scarletforya · 11/04/2015 11:32

She's one so fingers crossed she'll be fine.

mollypollly · 11/04/2015 14:52

Thanks so much for all your messages, I feel v reassured!

She hasn't been sick or anything yet thankfully, just suffering with her cold. Hopefully we have got away with it!

She'll might feel a bit ill. Depends on how strong stomached she is.

If she has loose poo. Make your DH change it.

primarywannabe · 11/04/2015 15:08

Things like that happen to the best of us! I wouldn't worry too much.

MrsFlannel · 11/04/2015 16:35

We had this OP...more than once sadly! DH is short sighted. :( No damage was done though. And once it happened twice I took to washing all bottles immediately and by hand!

Mia1415 · 11/04/2015 16:36

I've done similar & DS was absolutely fine

funkyfoam · 11/04/2015 16:50

Mine did that. Picked up and drank from a feeder cup with milk that had been sitting in a picnic bag for over 24 hours. She is 25 now.
