to think some bank security rules make no sense?

Or was the one I just encountered incorrectly applied?

2 DSs have savings accounts with a bank card. Each had some money to pay in but only DS2 came with me.

He paid his money in at the counter because we don't have the PIN no and asked the cashier to send him a new PIN. All good.

Then I banked DS1's money, presenting the card in the same way and asking for a new PIN to be sent to the account address. The cashier was unable to send that new PIN because the card said "Mr". Not because I wasn't DS1, she hadn't done anything to check the card DS2 used was his. So, if I'd had a daughter, or DH had gone to the bank, the new PIN would be in the post. How does that protect anyone?

Apparently he can do it over the phone, so do I get DH to call, or put on a squeaky little boy's voice myself?

My card gets blocked every time I pay a mobile bill or order a takeaway it's bonkers

I would assume the cashier meant she couldn't send it without the cardholder present and she could tell you weren't the cardholder due to the title on the card? Obviously phrased badly so yanbu about that.

I've just reread and realised I've completely missed the point haven't I? Blush
