Hotpoint repair plan

A word of advice to anyone thinking of taking out one of these - perhaps think twice! Our Hotpoint dishwasher has been in its death throes for about 4 years. Their repair men come out time and time again to patch it up, (meaning someone has to take a day off work) even though the time has clearly come, according to their policy, to replace it. On Thursday evening, after their engineer 'repaired' the machine yet again, we came down to find the kitchen flooded, and the entire contents of the cupboard beneath it ruined, as something, somewhere hadn't been connected. When I phoned first thing this morning (after the bank holiday closure) to ask for an emergency engineer, they casually told me that they have no engineers free today, but they will send someone 'at some point' tomorrow. They were unconcerned, bullish, and put me firmly in my place, even though, with the dishwasher switched off, there is still something dripping into the cupboard underneath, so they have clearly damaged other pipework...

This is of no help, but I would never buy hotpoint again after the hassle I've had with them, and the uselessness of their products.

My advice is bin the dishwasher and get a Bosch.

Can you claim on house insurance? Is there part of the policy that guarantees the engineer's work and will pay for repairs to damage they've caused?
