Reusing Unfranked stamps

LittleMissRayofHope · 07/04/2015 09:24

If I get a letter and the stamp hasn't been franked by RM I peel it off and keep it. I then use it the next time I post a letter.

AIBU? Friend thinks I am. She said I'm basically stealing from RM. I guess I can see her POV.

Thought I would ask here!

I wouldn't do it. It literally wouldn't cross my mind.

Apparently I'm a Saint 😂

I guess I could understand someone doing it if they needed a letter posting urgently and didn't have a stamp to hand but otherwise it just seems a bit sad somehow. Does everyone that does this steal other things like sugar sachets and pens.

I can far easier understand proper stealing where you actually steal something of value., but feeling pleased with yourself for stealing a 65p stamp is a bit Shock Shock Hmm

The stamps were not franked but had been cut off an envelope and glued on a new envelope. If you looked very carefully you could just about tell.

kali110 · 01/04/2017 01:52

Valeriemalorie this has worried me, i regulary cut stamps off evelopes and stick them to new ones if i forget to post my letters in time Confused
They're not unfranked, they've never had a chance to go theough the postal system! ( because my brain like sieve forgets the envelope and sits there for a week till it's too late to post).

Darlink · 01/04/2017 02:48

Meh
I do it

Reusing stamps is theft, that's obvious. But more to the point, if we don't pay for a service that we receive, in the end, the service will go out of business and we won't have it anymore. It's your own moral compass you have to be true to. Personally I don't do it. If I had to because I had no other choice, I might do it occasionally, but as a rule - definitely not.
