wibu to advise partial stranger?

Some woman on my Facebook who I cannot remember how I know and have possibly never spoken to, has posted a picture of her lovely ds being fed his first solids laid back in his bouncy chair.

Would it be unreasonable of me to message her discouraging feeding her ds in the laid back position in his bouncy chair as it could increase choking risk?

I don't want to be preachy or 'I know best'. I hardly know the woman and don't know if it's my place.

Yes ywbu to offer your 'advice'.

Islanegra · 05/04/2015 19:56

Do it. It's a safety thing.

IvyWall · 05/04/2015 19:59

Blimey. has the advice on this changed? I fed my two in their bouncy chair. And at four months Shock

hiddenhome · 05/04/2015 20:02

I fed both mine in their bouncy chairs. They didn't actually bounce whilst they were eating, they just sat in them.

ampersandand · 05/04/2015 20:06

I've only been weaning my ds for 2.5 months so far and he's choked twice. Not the gagging/coughing, but turning blue and blocked airways. So I'm probably more paranoid than most.
I have read that babies should be sat properly upright when feeding with solids.

Do you lie down when you eat?

Nolim · 05/04/2015 20:32

I would message her privately.

6LittleOnes · 05/04/2015 20:38

I feed all of mine in their bouncy chairs. Didn't realise you shouldn't. Guess I got lucky that they never choked. I don't think I would contact the woman if you don't know her that well, she probably wouldn't pay any attention anyway.

cashewnutty · 05/04/2015 20:42

I also fed mine in their bouncy chairs at 4 months. They both lived! I would say nothing if i was you.

Trinpy · 05/04/2015 20:45

You could PM her to say ypur baby choked, it was really scary and you wouldnt want anyone else to go through that. Maybe add a link to a Web page about choking?

I was told by my health visitor to start weaning in the bouncy chair, so it might be that a hcp has told her it's ok.

PrettyLittleMitty · 05/04/2015 20:46

You dont know her well enough to start dishing out unsolicited advice. You'll just seem very judgmental and interfering. Leave well alone.

TwoOddSocks · 05/04/2015 21:11

If you contact her I think trinpy's choice of words would be best. I fed my DS in his bouncy chair but only when he was sitting up independently and he'd always be upright. I'd be surprised if anyone fed their 4 month old while they were lying back? Does sound a little dangerous.
