DP's pessimism regarding my career

Thailandthailand · 03/04/2015 22:02

I'm due to qualify in my career in September.
I recently had an interview and was successful at securing a job in a certain area. Since, I have been working shifts in that specific area.

Yesterday, there was a staff meeting in this area and it was announced that I would be joining them in September as a qualified member of staff.

Upon telling DP, he reacted with "you're not even a "qualified job title" yet, why are they referring to you as a (qualified staff member). along with "you have to actually pass the course yet! ridiculous"."

AIBU to expect a bit more support???

OP posts:

Is it possible he is feeling a bit jealous / threatened by your success?

YANBU at all to expect to him to be more positive. I would be upset too.

flowery · 03/04/2015 22:04

YANBU, that's sad :(

Hissy · 03/04/2015 22:04

YANBU - is he always so resentful of you? Sad

26Point2Miles · 03/04/2015 22:05

Yabu to expect more support from him .... I've just read your wedding thread, that's why I say this, sadly

Jackw · 03/04/2015 22:21

YADNBU. Very poor response which suggests he is not a supportive and loving partner. Congratulations on the job by the way, you must be delighted.

YvetteChauvire · 03/04/2015 22:29

You are planning to marry this man.

You seem rather disconnected as a couple. Snipping and pissed off with one another. I imagine this is not the best start to matrimony.

You don't sound like you respect one another, let alone like each other.

He doesn't sound very supportive. This is want you want to marry into. Why. You need to think about that.

IvyWall · 03/04/2015 22:33

Bin him and run away

Starlightbright1 · 03/04/2015 22:36

I read your other thread. You really need to cancel the wedding now. The wedding day is one day if you feel like this before the wedding it will be worse

SanityClause · 03/04/2015 22:38

I've just posted on your other thread.

He really doesn't care about you, Thailand.

So sorry. Flowers

Ratfinkandbobo · 03/04/2015 22:39

Just come from your other thread, I hope you haven't put down a deposit for the wedding venue! Yanbu regarding this thread, he should be proud and supportive.

SanityClause · 03/04/2015 22:39

But, seriously, don't pick your feet!

Cantbelievethisishappening · 03/04/2015 22:40

Why on earth are you marrying this twat?
Both threads you have going would indicate that you may well be making a huge mistake

Grow a set and either call him out on his behaviour or LTB

Iggly · 03/04/2015 22:42

Yanbu

And you know it.

Explain to us why you want to marry this man?

passthewineplz · 03/04/2015 22:43

UANBU - think you need to sit down and weigh up the pros and cons for wanting to marry this man Thailand

TwoOddSocks · 03/04/2015 22:45

He doesn't sound like he likes, loves or respects you very much. He also doesn't sound like a very nice person. What does he actually bring to the relationship that makes all this rubbish worthwhile?

CliveCussler · 03/04/2015 22:50

LTB. Put your wedding planning energies into achieving your qualification and enjoying your new job.

Find someone who appreciates you and leave him to his Springwatch.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 03/04/2015 22:51

Oh crikey, just posted on your wedding thread, then read this.

Isn't there a little voice at the back of your mind, OP? You sound like you really things to be all lovely, planning your wedding, etc. but they aren't lovely.

Your OH sounds resentful and bitter, and not at all on the same page wedding-wise.

I'd cool your heels on the wedding planning, he sounds fairly unpleasant.

Eggynuff · 03/04/2015 23:11

Save yourself a lot of heartache and call the wedding off now before you sink any money into it, send out invites and feel obliged to see it through.

CalleighDoodle · 03/04/2015 23:25

Homestly, you do not want to be separating in 4 years and becoming a single parent. It is much easier to realise he is a nob now and start again.

TheChandler · 03/04/2015 23:53

He sounds like he wants a little, quiet, obedient wife sitting at home.

Why on earth are you with him?

Agrestic · 03/04/2015 23:59

Op. Leave him. Three threads in one night? :(

Ratfinkandbobo · 04/04/2015 00:03

Three? Where's the other one?

Ratfinkandbobo · 04/04/2015 00:05

Found it! Poor op! What a night you've had!
