Basically University of Bolton have sacked a lecturer and his wife for allegedly leaking details of the university's frivolous spending to the times higher education.

However, the newspaper in question has now denied these allegations, and it seems his poor wife has been sacked simply for her association!

My DD attends this university, studying the special effects for film and television course, which was the only suitable one outside of London with good links to industry (Most of these have come about from Mr Markey himself!), and it seems whilst they have loaned all this money to the Vice Chancellor they have been cancelling trips for the students due to a 'lack of funding' Hmm. Can't really put into words how disgusting this whole fiasco is! So in short, would be grateful if some of you lovely mumsnetters could show your support Smile.

Am I missing something? There's nothing in the article about anyone being sacked for leaking the information so there's not much to go on...

LittleBlueOneTwo · 01/04/2015 18:24

Apologies for not being clearer they were sacked because they were suspected of leaking the info in the article. Here's another article written after they were sacked www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3013860/Lecturer-wife-sacked-failing-University-Bolton-blowing-whistle-100-000-jolly.html it is a daily mail article im afraid Grin

I can't sign because I don't know what's true and what's not. I can't just take your word for it. You could even be the woman (or man) who has been sacked for all I know.
Sorry.

If the case is as clear as you are stating then they have a good case for an employment tribunal. They are better placed to judge the truth of this issue.
