We are swapping from virgin to ee.

Firstly we have to get a bt line in so our drive needs to be dug up. That's fine, we can park on next doors drive.

The issue is the tv box. EE say they cannot send the tv box out until the broadband is online. Their system says it's online although it's not at we still don't have a phone line. So until that's done the broadband won't go on and then three days later they will send a tv box. My dp has been on the phone "discussing" this for half an hour. We will be without tv for three days once the phone line is moved.

My head hurts. Dp is getting very frustrated. Just send us the bloody box thing ffs!!

They now say that although the system says we have broadband, it's also saying we haven't.

I think dps head is going to explode in a minute.

Unless your job is watching TV like gogglebox then I don't see why it's a massive problem. There are so many other things to do to entertain you both without a screen, you may end up enjoying the no screen time. It's only three days.

I'd definitely be more put out by having the driveway dug up than by having no TV for 3 days!

It does sound frustrating and nonsensical, but just let it go over your head- your DP can stress about confusing phone conversations, and you can think of other ways to keep yourselves entertained for a couple of days. Smile

Watch Freeview for a few days?

26Point2Miles · 30/03/2015 12:38

Without tv for 3 days??

That should not be a problem, for anyone, ever! Man up and buy some board games, I can't believe its a problem

SaucyJack · 30/03/2015 12:42

Watch a DVD instead?

Going three days without the talking noisy box shouldn't really be a big deal.

BreconBeBuggered · 30/03/2015 12:42

Oh, that's annoying. Not so much the TV itself, I suspect, but the faffing about in the system where you end up going round in circles on the phone for hours and end up wondering if they will ever get their act together

londonrach · 30/03/2015 12:58

I go days without tv. You dont need it. Great books out there, games or just try talking or making a cake, painting a picture, writing a book, sorting that paperwork out you always were going to!

butterfly2015 · 30/03/2015 13:11

Just to be clear, it's not the tv itself. I can manage without it as I would happily read all evening. It's the whole faffing thing.

Ee: our system says your broadband went online on Friday
US: No, we are still using virgin as we don't have a bt line yet
Ee: No, you are definitely connected
(The router is still in the box)
US: So you can send the tv box then?
Ee: No, the system says you are connected to broadband yet and we haven't got an activation code to send one.

And we've spoken to four people in total, went round in circles and gave up.

We will survive fine without tv, it's just they make it seem so easy when you sign up but we are so confused by their "system" and the staff don't seem so bloody sure what they are doing either.

And bt were meant to be here today. And they aren't.
