Someone I know who I once thought of as a good friend, she never did really and I have removed her from that part of my brain.

We live close and she has just sent her daughter round to give me some birthday flowers.

We rarely see each other, don't really talk by email, mobile. Wierd to get birthday flowers, ok but if you wanted to say hello pop them over yourself.

Think I am a bit ungrateful maybe.... Just don't really want to send the gushing text thank you.

You do sound a little ungrateful, but maybe you still feel a little hurt that she wasn't as close as you thought she was.

Maybe she felt too shy to go round? People can be funny like that.

Just say thanks, they're lovely, and forget about it.

Just reply

"Thank you for the flowers, would of been lovely to see you too, hope all is well"

WorraLiberty · 29/03/2015 15:17

So don't send a gushing text then (who does that anyway?)

Just send a normal one, thanking her.

Lots of great ideas. I know I am being ungrateful..

Think you are right, I was quite hurt at the time. But years ago and don't really want to go back there. Have so long moved on and not all interested.

If you aren't really in contact right now you don't know why she didn't pop over. It was kind if her to remember and sort something out. I would send a nice text with no rebukes about what she should have done.

championnibbler · 29/03/2015 15:28

that she sent her daughter instead of showing her own face is a bit lame.
she was obviously thinking about you though.
i would text saying 'thanks for the flowers' and just leave it at that.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 29/03/2015 15:33

Maybe something has opened her eyes to how badly she behaved? I guess the tone of your reply will depend on whether you want to give your friendship another go.

HopSkipCrash · 29/03/2015 15:34

'thanks for flowers - they are gorgeous'

MrsTedCrilly · 29/03/2015 15:36

Agree with Hop^^ Simple and not gushing Smile

Are the flowers from the local petrol station?

Namehanger · 29/03/2015 15:43

Text sent. Moved on, back to cleaning.

It isn't even my birthday, that's next week.
