AIBU to wake sleeping child

DS14 off school with some sort of virus (temp/sore throat/nausea - but no voms or squits). Slept till 11am - was downstairs until 1pm when he went back to bed and has now slept all afternoon.
Would you wake him up so he will sleep tonight (I am worried if he sleeps all day he will not sleep well tonight).
Or would you leave him because he's obviously poorly and needs the sleep?

I would leave. If he's still asleep and he's sick, he probably needs it.

I would wake him up - would walk in with a cuppa, thermometer and paracetamol. Would measure his temperature, offer painkiller and tea.
It's just me though.

I would leave him to sleep if he's ill.

ThatBloodyWoman · 27/03/2015 16:40

If he doesn't sleep well tonight,he can doze over the weekend too if he needs to.

14 years old? If that's correct then I'd definitely leave him. If he can't sleep at night then he can watch dvds etc and know not to disturb the rest of you. He must need the sleep, although at that age it wouldn't harm to wake him briefly, let him know the time so he can choose

I would leave him to sleep, he probably needs it.

He's not very independent when he is poorly - he was in last night about 3 am for a cuddle cause he felt poorly and couldn't sleep. He only comes in when he is ill - it's a very rare event. So I know if he has a bad night, so will I. Don't begrudge it, but would like to minimise it if possible!

Let him sleep. When I'm ill, I sleep for days. Hubby always wakes me up constantly to check on me and it makes me feel worse. My body will work it out if it needs to sleep all night and during the day.

Wake him up at like 8 or so to see if he wants food and painkillers. For now, leave be!

Problem solved - he woke up by himself. Back down stairs, bravely struggling through a bowl of ice-cream to help his sore throat.
