I am looking forward to seeing this adaptation of the books by Diana Gabaldon, good reviews but I have been disappointed by so many 'films of the book' .

I enjoyed the books, good mix of historical romance and science fiction with the time travelling element. I was a bit Shock and Shock at some points, e.g. wife beating section but they are good read.

So was I bu to let you know & has anyone here seen it to say IANBU to spend the afternoon ignoring the housework and watching Outlander instead? (I have a rare day off with DH at work, DCs at school).Grin

Ooh wish I had prime. Who plays Jamie....

Apatite1 · 27/03/2015 14:18

Someone totally hot. Watching it right now. Claire is exactly as I imagined her.

Apricota · 27/03/2015 15:01

Really wish. I laws weren't coming now. Would have been better to watch this.

Sunnymeg · 27/03/2015 15:10

YANBU, but whisper it, I prefer Frank to JamieGrin

MmeGuillotine · 27/03/2015 15:52

I'm four episodes into the series and have just embarked on the fifth book. I'm totally BLOODY OBSESSED. I love Jamie so much.

Blush

I made DH download it when he was over in the States for work. It's fab. On the evening he got back, I sat and watched six of the eight episodes (ignoring him completely.)

I've read and reread (many times) all the series of books and I think they've done a very good job.

Diana Gabaldon makes an appearance too!

Definitely worth scorning housework/husbands/kids to watch... Grin

I know they're adapting Dragonfly in Amber next but will be really interested to see if they do Voyager too although I'm nervous about how they handle The Genevra Incident. I'm guessing that they picked actors rather older than the characters so that they could have them realistically ageing through the series?

MmeGuillotine · 27/03/2015 16:21

Ugh, Geneva.

dustyovaries · 27/03/2015 18:10

I watched the whole thing in about 2 days when visiting dear friend in America! Loved it!

Melawen · 27/03/2015 18:53

I could not wait for this! Have signed up for the prime trial and plan on cancelling it when I've watched it! Watched the first espisode last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. And I am so glad it has subtitles too.

ClaireFraser · 27/03/2015 18:58

This popped up on my facebook feed today - I am SO excited!

I follow DG on facebook and she's been discussing the filming etc of this for months, was so tantalising when they started showing it in America but not here!

Do you know if you have to have Amazon Prime to use Amazon Instant Video, or can you just pay for individual programmes to view?

I think this thread needs some "art." Smile

I've seen the episodes online but I got the DVD last week. I've sat today and watched all 8 episodes Smile

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series on Prime.

I absolutely love Tobias Menzies he's fantastic as both Frank & BJR

Jellylove · 29/03/2015 21:24

It's so bloody good!
The highland scenery is amazing but Jamie is the best scenery in it.
I have loved the books and its a great adaptation.
Watched the 8 episodes in 3 days, what is unreasonable is having to wait until next weekend for the next episode!
Sod the housework!
Just get to swooning and drooling!
