To drag myself into work today even though I feel ill

I feel rubbish. I have been sleeping badly lately and I have a thumping headache, sore throat and utterly exhausted. I thought I was mostly ok but then last night I fainted Blush

I'm at work until 9 tonight and then from 6:45 to 10:30 tomorrow. Get a little break on Sunday when I finish at 11 in the morning.

I just can't afford to take any time off. If I don't go in I don't get paid!

YABU. Headache/sore throat you can dose up and push through, but not fainting. Besides, if you don't get the rest you need now you could end up making yourself even more ill.

divingthroughspace · 27/03/2015 07:00

I won't be driving, no.

So you'll go and infect other people who may not be able to afford to take time off? Why is your lack of affordability more important than anyone else's?

You're sick. Stay home.

divingthroughspace · 27/03/2015 07:07

I don't think what I've got is infectious Midnite but I just can't afford to lose £250 which is what today, tomorrow and Sunday would amount to. I am fairly certain that the fainting was because I haven't been able to eat much due to having a sore throat so I'll take a flask of soup, or something.

I suppose I was looking for tea and sympathy and understanding!

That is hard. I don't get paid if I don't go to work either. Sometimes you have to muddle through so you can pay the bills. Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

YANBU, a lot of people do. I get sick pay if I'm ill, but hate taking time off - if it's physically possible to go in I'll go. Just dose up on ibuprofen and paracetamol, (and caffeine)! and take some in so you can keep dosed up. Feel better soon.

Yabu. Not only to yourself but to others. You don't what people could catch, said with much respect of course. Also another poster well pointed out do you drive. Sweet Jesus. Supposing you faint while driving.
You get no prizes being the big hero and going into work when you're clearly not able. Here comes the but though.
I can see where you're coming from. All very well me sitting here typing. oh no don't go In, but let's all be honest if not with others at least to ourselves. We've All gone into work dying becauze we've needed the money. Not going to pretend I've Never done it. It's the wAy the world is.
Flowers. Look after yourself

Another person here who's paid by the shift, If I don't go in I don't get paid.

I drag myself in with all sorts. Hideous but no choice.

Hope you feel better soon.

mariamin · 27/03/2015 09:44

Yes if employers don't want us going in when we are ill, they need to pay sick pay.

SuperFlyHigh · 27/03/2015 09:47

Can't you take a short lunch break and leave early or just leave early?
