AIBU to get confused about DS6 and DD2

I always thought the number after the DD or DS denoted the child's position in the family, ie first on, second daughter etc. But recently I've realised some posters use it to denote the age of the child in question. AIBU to find this confusing sometimes when I'm reading an OP?

Oh I have seen a few "DD6" posts and DD8 posts and thought they were large families who had better look out as a tv crew will want to come and film them and ask how many pints of milk they get through in a week

silveroldie2 - That was probably me! Sorry but I didn't realize

Totally agree. Takes me twice as long to read your post because I am working out whether you have a fiance, friend or father with DF. Then I need to work out if DS2 is aged 2 or is the second son. Then you start talking about DN well is that niece or nan?

It doesn't really take that long to write son, daughter, niece, nan or father does it? You only need to write it once after all and then abbreviate as necessary.
