To find this odd?

At school drop off this morning a parent said to their reception child, "I love you like a fat kid loves cake".

Didn't think anything of it at time but as day gone on, it has stuck in my head and can't help but think it's odd and potentially damaging.

1. I don't want to get fat, so does that mean if I don't eat cake, parent won't love me any more.
2. it doesn't matter if I eat cake and get fat as that's how much parent loves me. (Obv parent would still love child, but is that what they want them thinking).

Plus whatever else it may make other children think.

Finally, surely love how much you love your child shouldn't be quantifiable.

Of course, at this point said child is thinking none of these things other than parent loves them.

I am totally over thinking this aren't I.

That verses at the top also reads like a poetic AIBU, I'm imagining the response already "he's lying, of course something happened, LTB, he's a vile vile man, red flag"

Oh LTB indeed. Defo never heard those lyrics before. Still think it an odd thing to say in public on leaving child at school but am no longer worried about other stuff. It's in context now ?? just like Guess how much I love you story.
