Bit scared, someone tell me I am being silly.

I am at home on my own with three little kids. I live in a semi rural location. I just got up to go to the loo and heard the sound of a man shouting, just once. I have had an incident like this before and there was an intruder in the next property, occupants were away, I called 999 and the policy caught him. On the other side of us they had a break in whilst my neighbour was upstairs and children asleep. Why did I not put the alarm on (wandering 3 year old). Do I go down and do it, even though I am very scared? Could it have been a fox?

Go down and do it with a phone and an aerosol (poor woman's mace) and then run back up?

ImperialBlether · 24/03/2015 01:41

Go down and put the alarm on now!

Great plan. You have given me strength. I am going for it. Will report back.

Do you have lights on?

Obviously occupied properties are unlikely to be broken into. You said yourself the break in was when neighbours were away.

Scary though, isn't it?

Arsenic · 24/03/2015 01:43

Ok Smile

Cutiecat · 24/03/2015 01:46

Yes. Back upstairs.

Thank you ladies. My heart was in my bloody mouth and now pounding in my chest.

Good.

Your ears will be hyper alert for a while....

Arsenic · 24/03/2015 01:49

It's worse when you've got small ones in the house with you, isn't it?

Cutiecat · 24/03/2015 01:50

There have been several incidents locally in last few and it does worry me. Alarm is on. Cat is upstairs. Must relocate my hockey stick to under bed.

It is the children that really gets me. I want to have them all in my bed now. Thank you for being there. It was too late to call a friend. Thank heavens for Mumsnet.

Sleep well!

Arsenic · 24/03/2015 01:56

Hope you sleep ok.

How very frightening OP. I wind myself up at night if I hear anything outside.

How are you this morning? Everything OK?

xx
