Ok so it was a lovely day yesterday so decided to strip the beds and wash and linedry them. I put 1st load on and prepared 2nd load. I than had to go out so told dh where 2nd load was.
I am a sahm so I do the laundry normally but he has lived on his own so should know what to do.
Anyway I came home several hours later and he said in a proud voice that he had put next load on.
An hour or so later this load finished so I went to peg it out. The line was empty. He had emptied the 1st load and left it in a laundry basket on the floor.
aibu to think this is just plain lazy.

millyv · 23/03/2015 12:47

I would have seriously kicked off, what an idiot!

geekymommy · 23/03/2015 14:15

He left wet laundry sitting in a basket? WTF?

geekymommy · 23/03/2015 14:17

If it was dry laundry, I'd defend him to the death (and we will NOT talk about how much clean, dry laundry is in laundry baskets in my bedroom, thankyouverymuch). Wet laundry is a different story, though.

KittensOnAPlane · 23/03/2015 14:20

no - YANBU - what a lazy oh

MinceSpy · 23/03/2015 15:14

You said to wash the second load but omitted to specifically tell him to peg out the first load - sadly some people need idiot instructions. YANBU and he's lazy.

ApocalypseThen · 23/03/2015 16:17

He's a disgrace. How lazy and feckless can one adult be? Is this part if a plan to do the job so badly that you never ask again?

DorothyBastard · 23/03/2015 16:49

I hope you didn't peg out the first load?

AliMonkey · 23/03/2015 17:01

Whilst he was definitely being lazy (or forgetful - did he explain himself eg did he mean to do it and forget?) I also found myself thinking that at least he did put the wash on - my DH would have forgotten to do it at all.

I am sometimes tempted to just not wash DH's stuff and see how long it takes him to notice ...

Icimoi · 23/03/2015 17:03

So what's his explanation? Apart from that he couldn't be bothered?

purplehandgang · 23/03/2015 21:03

He got distracted apparently.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 23/03/2015 21:12

Wrap the damp laundry around him like Marley's chains, and make him read this thread. Only when he nods in agreement to every insult, slowly start untwining the chilly sheets from his cold, cold body.

Won't do it again.

millyv · 24/03/2015 10:54

alimonster I have often thought about not doing dh's washing but it's just not worth the agro, I would end up doing it anyway and would then be left with a mountain of washing!

TwinkieTwinkle · 24/03/2015 11:03

A disgrace? He didn't put the washing out, not exactly a massive deal Hmm

AliMonkey · 24/03/2015 15:59

If he just got distracted then he really doesn't deserve to be insulted quite so much, annoying as it might be. (Unless of course this sort of thing happens every time you ask him to do something!) We've all done it.

ApocalypseThen · 24/03/2015 16:58

It's not in itself, but he clearly knows whose job it is to not get distracted and sort this stuff out. I do think an adult abdicating household responsibilities like that is a disgrace. If it mattered to him he'd have done it.

ARoomWithoutAView · 24/03/2015 17:00

He isn't lazy.
He was just conserving his energy.

redskybynight · 24/03/2015 17:01

I get distracted and forget to do things - don't think it's a biggy!

purplehandgang · 24/03/2015 17:46

Tbh not sure I really believe distracted story. I do think that he sometimes (well most of the time) see laundry etc as my job. I work ad hoc days and last time I did washing up was left. I normally do it in the evening bu was budy doing work prep.

Phephenson · 24/03/2015 17:51

I put a colour wash on that included my work clothes and his work t-shirts. I thought I heard him open the washing machine but when I went in half hour later the door was shut, I emptied machine, took it to put on the dryer and lo and behold, he had taken his two work tops out and already hung them up leaving the rest of the washing in the machine.

I am seething, YANBU OP.

Horsemad · 24/03/2015 19:21

I do hope you pointed out the error of his ways Phephenson?
