WIBU not to sign for these parcels?

Got a knock at the door earlier today (Sunday). It was someone with two parcels with next door's address on. However, the name was not known to me (we've been neighbours for over 20 years and I know all the other neighbours too). I felt uncomfortable about taking and signing for the parcels so declined.

I felt guilty afterwards because I know that guy will have to come back and redeliver some other time, but don't really know why my instinct was to refuse to sign in this case.

Thinking later, I suppose the strange name could have been a friend of the neighbours and really, did it matter? What's the risk? If this happens again should I just sign for the parcels?

It's a scam. Some poor woman had a load of hassle on here after signing for it and then dropping it off to the addressee in the next street. Some bloke came round demanding the envelope back.

I'd go round and ask your neighbours if they know anything about the parcels.
