I fell on ice in the work carpark at the beginning of February, I came down very hard on my bum and left side and ever since have been in excruciating pain around the location of my left kidney especial when laying down or trying to turn over, bend or twist (I have a 19 month old so rest is hard). I have seen nurse practitioner at the surgery who dismissed my side Completely and then 3 weeks later saw a trainee gp who seemed not to be concerned and suspected muscular damage. do to chronic asthma and an allergy to codeine all I can take is ibuprofen and paracetamol which quite frankly are doing sweet fa.

would I be completely unreasonable to gp back again and ask to see a fully qualified gp for another opinion because quite frankly I am sick of being in pain and not sleeping!

Eh, no, you would be daft NOT to go back ! Actaully I d be asking for referal for a scan and wouldn't take no for an answer

I don't think asthmatics are meant to take ibuprofen?

Definitely go back though sounds like some things not right

wheresthelight · 22/03/2015 18:58

luckily my asthma isn't sensitive to ibuprofen so am ok on it.

Glad you don't think Iabu! the trainee I saw was quite dismissive and basically told me I was making a fuss but I am in agony and haven't had a decent sleep since I fell

It's 7 weeks, of course you should go back

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/03/2015 19:05

Yanbu! Go kick up a fuss.

Is it where a rib is? It is unlikely to be anything they can do anything about in a 'fix it' way.... If a rib is broken you can't cast your chest...eek. BUT especially with your history if asthma, you need adequate pain relief to be able to breath deeply and cough. And a urine dip at least might be an idea .... And other things if they decide in examination. YANBU, go back, even if just for more pain killers.... Can you take tramadol?

wheresthelight · 22/03/2015 20:10

No its just below my ribs thankfully and not sure about tramadol tbh.

I can take deep breaths and cough but it is hurting to cough and unfortunately they decided to gloss the meeting room at work last week which has really irritated my chest so am coughing a lot!

I will ring tomorrow and try and get am appointment for this week
