Picture on Mumsnet front page - yes but what about the haddock?

Am I alone in finding the picture (on the front page) of a man peering between the legs of a woman supposedly in childbirth - both triggering and upsetting. It reminds me of my sons traumatic birth. IABU or overreacting?

There was a thread about this yesterday...but more from the angle it was a bit weird and 'porny' as someone else described it.

I think it just looks oddly staged that's all.

WRT the triggering and upsetting, surely most things to do with childbirth would do that? I mean it's hard to avoid on a parenting website.

Sorry it makes you feel that way though Thanks

AtrociousCircumstance · 22/03/2015 16:40

I agree. It's insensitive.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/03/2015 16:41

It's not great, I agree. Very comedy misogyny for some reason. I can't really put my finger on why I feel like that.

FuckItBucket · 22/03/2015 16:44

I laughed at it due to the haddock comment and the man where he stood

fishy fanny for those who don't het it's

That's the reason I find it weird

KnockMeDown · 22/03/2015 16:44

I don't get the haddock thing.

KnockMeDown · 22/03/2015 16:46

Cross-post Fuckit

Surely that makes it even less appropriate Hmm

FuckItBucket · 22/03/2015 16:48

I don't think it's meant to be viewed that way

ARoomWithoutAView · 22/03/2015 16:54

It makes me recall a piece of modern art from around 15 years ago I saw in a magazine. A kitchen table with four legs at each corner, a large piece of smoked haddock nailed to the end and titled simply "Bitch". Hmm

iLoveFlop · 22/03/2015 17:00

I think it's because on funniest moment in childbirth thread a poster spoke of the time she asked her husband about the haddock in the freezer or something.

But I might be wrong.
