To hope B and Q might see this my way?

I returned some flooring to B and Q yesterday, for a refund. Today -realise that it is actually needed elsewhere so I need to buy it back! Trouble is, it is no longer on offer and is now twice the price I paid for it a couple of weeks ago. AIBU to throw myself on their mercy, explain that I made a mistake and ask for it back at the price I paid? I can cry, if you think that might help...

You can try but they might not be able to override the system.

jellyandsoup · 21/03/2015 12:38

I would think it's highly unlikely yo be honest. I think you will have to pay full price sorry.

Flossyfloof · 21/03/2015 12:39

I know. ????

You can try but I would be surprised if they did. Good luck!

I'm at a loss to wonder how you would think you don't need it on one day, return it for a refund, then on the very next day suddenly, out of the blue, realise you actually do need it, after all. It's flooring, not a vase, or some bedding - but flooring. How would you not know you might need some flooring from one day to the next?

Sounds rather bizarre. Sorry, but it does.

And yes, you can be expected to pay full price (just out of sheer stupidity, if nothing else). Confused

B&Q are difficult at the best of times, I doubt you will have any luck on this.

PickleSarnie · 21/03/2015 14:33

Legally, they didn't have to give you a refund in the first place (unless it was faulty) I can't see that there's anyway they would sell it back to you reduced.

Pipbin · 21/03/2015 14:35

You want to buy something for less than they are selling it for. Why should they? It's worth asking but the chances are slim to none.

They were good to us when we bought our kitchen. We had tried to order it online, got to the end of the painstaking process of finding all the right bits, only for it to then say the part of the UK we are in is exempt from delivery Hmm We went instore and the woman was a bit off that we would even consider online, I guess they get a bonus or commission or something? Anyway, I had printed my list from online and she ordered it all. The very next day I got an email to say the kitchen stuff was all half price for a few weeks Angry I went back in and explained what the woman had said about us supporting the shop etc and my disappointment at her not informing us of the upcoming sale commencing the next day. They very kindly refunded the difference onto a gift card, which we were able to then use for the tiles, paint, cooker hood etc. Was very impressed with them.

Thanks, all. I, too think it very unlikely but your post, Miss D gives me heart! To be clear, this was due to a miscommunication rather than my own stupidity, story is too long and boring to go into and it really doesn't matter anyway, it is beside the point.

Fingers crossed, and there is no harm in trying!

TheoriginalLEM · 21/03/2015 15:06

y0ou can try but i can't see ut myself....

Flossyfloof · 21/03/2015 15:07

Thanks! I have just spoken to a nice lady who said she would see what she could do, but no guarantees. If she does it it will be great. If not, so be it, as someone said they are under no obligation to give refunds anyway. We will see tomorrow.

Well - hats off to B and Q, they gave me the packs at the same price. Am really pleased, it would have cost another £25 had they not, so grateful too.

That is great customer service!

TheGirlFromIpanema · 22/03/2015 14:18

B&Q are pretty good at stuff like this with tradesmen so I'd keep my fingers crossed OP Smile

TheGirlFromIpanema · 22/03/2015 14:19

Ha, should have read to the bottom Blush

Cliffdiver · 22/03/2015 14:35

That's great op I've only had one previous experience with B&Q customer service and they were brilliant - I lost a £50 gift voucher (think it was thrown away with Christmas wrapping paper) and they were so helpful, cancelled old voucher and issued a new one.

26Point2Miles · 22/03/2015 15:00

I work for them, love my job. Glad you got that great service op!! Offer feedback, details on your receipt. They are VERY good with employee recognition
