About the meningitis B vaccine??

I thought lots of MN posters were very pro-vaccine??

It is going to be introduced into the childhood immunisation schedule, that's already been decided, so I don't really understand why a petition has been started.

It has been approved, it's just a slow process to get cracking with it. I don't really know why it's taking so long. I suspect it's a supply and costing issue.

It is readily available privately - around £150 total for a dose of the vaccine (Bexsero) and the appointment to administer it. I have had my whole family immunised. DC1 needed two doses and DC2 will have four as under 1 year old. DH and I one dose each. So total cost around £1k for the four of us but a small price to pay to drastically reduce risk of getting such a godawful disease. I agree it should be available on the NHS so its not only an option for those who can afford to go private though.
