Anonymimity for the accused - a coincidence?

So, today I hear the Home Affairs Committee recommends anonymity for those accused of sex offences, at least until they're charged.

Now, this is something I've always happen to agree with, but...... does anybody else think this is more than a little coincidental, in light of the trundling Westminster Paedogeddon scandal?

Dows our political class always and only look after their own interests? They didn't give a flying fuck about this when it was celebrities being named.

People having been calling for this for ages. But the timing does seem convenient.

Err, except for the fact that it was one of those celebrities - Paul Gambaccini - who was invited in to give evidence. And as you say, it's a recommendation, not a change in the law.

Anonymity before they are charged unless there are good reasons otherwise.

That seems reasonable. Lives ruined by accusations. If they are true - fair enough - if they are not true the accused needs to be protected.
