Oh that would be fab.

Bet it doesn't reach scotland.

Whitershadeofpale · 18/03/2015 17:36

That would be great but it still seems a way off. I'm hoping to start a phd next year or early 2017.

ImperialBlether · 18/03/2015 17:55

Aren't most PhD students working as graduate students? Can you imagine the size of the debt people would have if they did their degree, MA and then PhD now?

MajesticWhine · 18/03/2015 17:58

That's going to be too late for me. Jeez I could do with an incentive to finish the fucking thing though.

Out0fCheeseError · 18/03/2015 18:19

Cynically, I wonder if this will be sneakily offset by cuts in research council PhD stipends...

FyreFly · 18/03/2015 18:19

I would love to see this come in. I've been trying for the last 4 years to start my PhD. I have no trouble getting the places, but I can't get the funding :( I had to turn down Oxford in 2013, I think that was the one that hurt the most.

I currently have a place at Leicester for September, but once again there's no funding. The liklihood is I will have to turn that down too.

What would be really good is if they could cut the massive funding for undergraduate degrees and divert some of it to postgraduate, which is woefully underfunded in this country. We are so far behind so many countries in terms of postgraduate study.
