To consider starting a family vlog?

AIBU to consider starting a family Vlog? Incase you're reading this and thinking I've made a typo... A Vlog is defined as 'a blog in which the postings are primarily in video form'.

There are lots of people who do them on YouTube (some daily) and I love watching what them and their family are up to.

I would love to do similar with my family...would also selfishly love my other half to do them too so when I am away I can see what my children have been up to.

Has anyone else considered or even started 'vlogging?'

I wouldn't want to post anything embarrassing but always watch these videos and think 'I could do that'.

YANBU as long as you don't shove it down anyone's throat by forcing them to watch it when you're all sitting in Starbucks.

DoItTooJulia · 14/03/2015 20:58

I reckon lots of people will think. It's naff. But, my ds loves watching YouTube videos of people opening kinder eggs, people lining up their Thomas the tank engine collection and naming them and people whi wrap up their engines in playdoh and then reveal them. Some of these vlogs have millions of hits.

I've never watched the kind of vlogs you're ona about but I might have a look now!

Somethingpink · 14/03/2015 21:16

Yanbu I have been considering the same thing but I'm waiting until the beginning of May as dp has promised to splash out on a decent camera for me to do it.

Who do you watch?

Nativity3 · 14/03/2015 21:24

My all time favourites are the saccone-Joly family. How about you?

YANBU, I love watching Bubz, anyone else seen her and cute baby Isaac?

Somethingpink · 14/03/2015 22:11

Ooh I love the saccone-jolys, emilia and ardo are so cute Smile

I love to watch the Witt family, sheurman show and itsjudyslife Smile

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 14/03/2015 22:16

Maybe I'm a party pooper but they feel like an invasion of the vloggers' children's privacy. You can consent to putting your day on the 'net but can your children? Ethically it feels 'off' to me.

MrsCampbellBlack · 14/03/2015 22:17

Have you seen the hate the saccone family get?

And I agree with squeezy re. children's privacy.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 14/03/2015 22:26

I'm really not keen on the saccone-jolys.

Daily Bumps are my favourite, even though I'm not keen on Bryan.

BertieBotts · 14/03/2015 22:27

I've never seen one. What kind of thing do they post??

Nativity3 · 14/03/2015 22:28

No I haven't seen any hate. But i don't read the comments or comment myself, just watch their videos.
I think it's lovely that when their children grow up they can look back on literally everyday of their life.
I think if they were showing anything embarrassing or unsuitable then consent might be an issue but I think all the videos of them that I have seen have been fine and actually quite lovely. They were both born into it (literally!) and so to them it's normal.
I do film things with my children (don't post online though) and if my children don't want to be filmed then I don't film them!
If I do put a vlog online I would include my children and wouldn't ask their permission Blush I would make the judgement call as to whether it was suitable or not. Hopefully they won't hate me for it when they're 18! Wink

Oh and if you haven't already check out modernmom4life as well Smile

I just don't understand it, seems so egotistical. The clips I've seen of Saccone Jolys are nauseating in the extreme. I can't believe people are interested in watching videos of them going to the park or baking a cake or whatever.

I thought it was a hoax. But apparently they're a youtube sensation.

Hmm Confused

squoosh · 16/03/2015 01:31

I've just put myself through the torture of looking at one of their videos on youtube. It's actually worse than I thought. Mr Saccone Joly has to be one of the most irritating men. In the world.

goodnessgraciousgouda · 16/03/2015 02:14

I am not the biggest fan of the type of video that the saccone jolys do, but I do think that they both come across as very kind and lovely people.

I used to watch its judys life but think that the videos lost a lot of the original personality and now its basically just a homage to their children the whole time, which I completely understand, but find, very dull. Maybe its just me, but I also have quite a few moments where I think benji is being a bit of a knob towards Judy.

I love bubz beauty. At first I,found her a little irritating, but she is so funny and so sweet. Isaac is so chubby!! Tim is an,absolute sweetheart as well. I find them a very funny and more down to earth couple than other vloggers I know.

if you want to start a vlog I think the most important thing,is to have the full and unadulterated support and willingness of your other family members. They have to be on board else its just a nightmare.

its hard work though. You have to,come up with video themes and ideas, and all the editing and equipment. Everyone who, does the "random slice,of,life" videos can, only do,so because they have built up,a,following already,,usually on a related make up,channel.

Somethingpink · 16/03/2015 18:16

I have to say as much as I like the saccone jolys Jonathan is irritating and now the video is Amelia and Eduardo playing. I like more adult interaction and him and Anna barely speak anymore.

I find benji to be a twat and I have read the comments for a few years now and it seems I'm not the only one. Again the camera is constantly on the children Confused

I don't know why I am still watching these two now I have thought about it, maybe I should find someone new to watch I will try bubz.

Another one I like is Hannah maggs.
