AIBU to think this is a bit Mean Girls

A photo has just popped up on my Facebook of my friends dd and her best friend. They are 7. The photo has text over it saying "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

AIBU to think that this is bizarre and a bit Mean Girls. I just can't understand why you would do it Confused

Why would you think that? It's just a vapid, nonsensical nothing comment that displays immaturity and staggering lack of awareness.

It's usually older girls that post that tripe but tripe it still is.

Donthate · 14/03/2015 18:32

The mum posted it not the child.

Dd inherited a bag of clothes from a friend of SIL's. Most of it was lovely, but one Tshirt had a slogan "I'm so glad I'm not ugly." Shock
It went straight in the bin.

There is photo software that enables you to do that to a photo taken with a Nokia Lumia phone - never used it or the option to turn a selfie into a magazine cover mick up Hmm but I wondered if anyone ever actually used it!? It is very poor judgement but probably just done on a whim I wouldn't read too much into it.

Wow clam Shock. If I sad a cold wearing that I would think their parent was an idiot.

Oh. But it makes no difference - vapid, vacuous comment just the same. If an adult woman posts it then I just assume that a) she has self-esteem issues and b) that she wants validation of herself as a desirable woman hence posting photos of younger daughter ('nature's green is gold' and all that malarkey).

Nothing malicious about it so not 'mean girls', just pointless photos and mind-numbing ego. I'd cringe if I saw that posted by a friend.

Donthate · 14/03/2015 19:47

I cringed too. I guess you are right. I would rather think that it is down to self esteem rather than just being a complete bitch.
