If you only shop at Marks and Waitrose?

taxi4ballet · 14/03/2015 15:50

What - and nowhere else...? Bit boring.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/03/2015 15:50

No.

Has someone implied to you that's what they think?

HollyJollyDillydolly · 14/03/2015 15:51

I don't think people that ship at m&s it Waitrose are all necessarily stuck up. They have lovely food and it's a lot quieter than tesco.

DontDrinkandFacebook · 14/03/2015 15:51

No. You just really like M&S and Waitrose. Confused

HollyJollyDillydolly · 14/03/2015 15:51

Shop or

MaudeLebowski · 14/03/2015 15:52

Not if your reasons for shopping there is because they are close and convenient. If anything, thats lazy.

Spatial · 14/03/2015 15:53

Nah, prob just a bit foolish - or, in the case of M & S, timeshort - it's all ready meals, isn't it?

ifgrandmahadawilly · 14/03/2015 15:54

No. You are posh though.

samsam123 · 14/03/2015 15:55

you don't get the chavs in Waitrose much more refined

tippytappywriter · 14/03/2015 15:55

I am stuck up but don't shop there. Grin

Chuffingelves01 · 14/03/2015 15:56

I think it depends.

Friend 1 only shops in waitrose, asked her why she said it's by her work, more convenient and she loves the food.

Friend 2 only shops in waitrose because she wouldn't be seen dead in any other place. She actually said 'imagine the horror of seeing someone I knew in sainsburys!'

I now think friend 2 is stuck up.

Summerisle1 · 14/03/2015 15:58

I get quite ragey about silly expressions like "stuck up" and especially when applied to something like shopping at Waitrose and M & S. There are all manner of reasons why people choose where they go shopping. But ultimately, who gives a fuck?

MissusThePoint · 14/03/2015 16:02

I only buy Waitrose sausages because they are the only ones I've found that actually stipulate exactly what kind of pork goes in to the sausages. I generally trust their meat more than other supermarkets.

M&S probably do the same - I haven't bothered to check.

ouryve · 14/03/2015 16:04

No, but someone might only shop at M&S and Waitrose because they're have certain pretensions.

And M&S does sell lots of lovely unadulterated meat, fish, fruit and veg alongside the ready meals, btw. Sainsburys Taste the Difference sausages are both nicer and cheaper than the M&S equivalent, though.

ghostyslovesheep · 14/03/2015 16:04

I am as common as muck and buy my sausages from our local free range organic farm Grin

but no - no stuck up just a bit stuck in your ways

Mousefinkle · 14/03/2015 16:05

Depends why you only shop there. If it's because theyre closest to home or work so it's convenient or they sell some things other supermarkets don't sell then you're not stuck up.

If it's because you wouldn't be seen dead in any other supermarket because they're way beneath you then yes, you're stuck up.

silveroldie2 · 14/03/2015 16:07

You can't possibly be stuck up shopping at Waitrose and M&S - however you would be stuck up if you only shopped at Fortnum & Mason Smile.

Ramy48 · 14/03/2015 16:13

Well, in conversation with friends I stated that I only shop mostly at Waitrose and they all ooohed and aaaahed and one said 'look at you only shopping at waitrose'!
I don't even buy pricey stuff like lobster or oysters just normal everyday milk and bread things. I don't think that's being snobby though.

OP posts:
mumofboyo · 14/03/2015 16:20

I've never even seen a Waitrose let alone been in one! Grin

I wouldn't think a person was 'stuck up' by only shopping in M&S; but I would think they had money to burn because it always seems so expensive in there yet no more tasty than, for example, Sainsbury's food.

Smarterthantheaveragebeaver · 14/03/2015 16:22

I wish there was a Waitrose near enough to me to shop in. Does that make me aspirational?

JoanHicksonMIfive · 14/03/2015 16:25

Your friends sound envious. Maybe they spend money on things you choose not to. I don't drink, smoke so like an M&S or Waitrose shop.

derxa · 14/03/2015 16:47

I'm totally stuck up and only shop at Waitrose/it's our closest supermarket and has good parking. Can't decide. Actually it's my temple of calm and serenity.

Silverjohnleggedit · 14/03/2015 16:56

I don't know, I am a bit when it comes to food....I mostly only shop in Waitrose and M&S....I like good food, cooking is my hobby. Why would someone else care where you shop?

mrscumberbatch · 14/03/2015 16:59

M&S is not all ready meals. Their fruit and veg is good quality.

I do 99% of my shopping there and get add ons like miso paste etc elsewhere as its overly pricey in M&S.

But for meat/veg/fruit etc i think it's very reasonably priced. Probably not any more expensive than tesco/sainsburys etc but nicer quality.

Ramy48 · 14/03/2015 17:02

I love Waitrose because mine is always quiet, the service is great, they do lovely game meat and seafood which is what my family and I love.
Perhaps though, it's so quiet because many products so expensive some people just go elsewhere.
