DC's school is in the process of going paperless which I think is great. Obviously it's great for the environment and also saving some of the school budget being spent on paper and printing. If I need to check the information in a past letter then I will just need to search my e-mails instead of trawling through a pile of paper in my dining room.
So the school is doing it's bit and it's made me wonder why we still have so many piles of paper cluttering up the side. I have to admit my filing systems aren't great and I have, in the past, spent hours trying to find a certain bits of paper. There is so much post I get that just goes in the bin. I get most of my bills paperless these days but there are still some companies that will send out an e-mail and a paper copy or correspondence and some which don't use e-mail at all.
It also amazed me last year that my garage needed paper copies of certain documents to do some work on my car when the dvla can tax the car in a matter in minutes using just the electronic information.
I appreciate not everyone has internet access and there still needs to be provision for them but I feel like we still have as much paper to deal with as ever.
