To think 8/9 year old boys dress up

Ds wants an avengers costume. As a big 8 year old this is proving difficult on the high street/ supermarket - all up to age but look too small. Maybe he is being babyish wanting ine

could you get a men's small and take it up/in? nothing wrong with dressing up, my ds (13) continually dresses as Dr who

Have you got a fancy dress shop near you? Ours has a huge kids section.

Do you have a comic book store anywhere in your town? They might have larger sizes or be able to help?

Failing that does he have a particular character he wants to be? Hulk or Thor might be doable by cobbling some bits together (normal clothes and green body paint for hulk, red cape, blond wig and hammer for Thor).
