AIBU to go have my bath

SIL, who is ALWAYS massively late was due at 7.

Currently I am wearing an air cast for a ruptured Achilles' tendon, I accept I am bad tempered, worn out and frustrated.

However, she is delivering my birthday present (birthday was in January) so I should be grateful.

OH needs to help me bath, I need to get into dry bath, take off boot, run water, have bath, empty bath, put on boot, get out of bath. OH needs to help with taking boot, giving back boot, passing towels and helping out of bath etc.

He has to be up at 3 tomorrow and was up at 3 today, he is doing everything, he's tired.

We explained all this to SIL, she said she would come at 7, she's still not here.

If she does not turn up after 8, am I justified to go have my bath and let DH, say a quick hello, sorry can't spend long, Charlie is in bath and will then be going to bed, I need to go to bed shortly and you once again are at least an hour late (assuming they turn up at 8)

Or does this just make me an ungrateful moaner.

Honestly, she works par time,, BIL retired, the drive is around 30 mins, so they could have set off in plenty of time.

I would go in the bath at 7.45 but then I need lots of sleep.

Leeds2 · 12/03/2015 19:43

YANBU. Go have your bath, and let OH get some sleep. She will probably turn up at 7:59, but don't let her overstay her welcome.

The thing so do I at the moment, this accident has really messed me up. We explained, would be lovely to see you, but if you can't make it at 7, it's best left for another time. Angry

To be honest, if this is a common occupancy with her I'd text her and say you've gone up for your bath and will then be turning in.

Lock the door, shut off the lights.

Might be a wasted trip or hassle for them, but maybe that's what's needed.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 12/03/2015 19:56

Nope fuck it go in bath right now!

I hate lateness also

championnibbler · 12/03/2015 20:12

Any sign of the tardy old hag yet?

Charlie97 · 12/03/2015 20:14

OH just rung! They left at 7.55! They are 30 mins away (at this time of night)....they will get lost (even though we've lived here for 26 fucking years) so that'll be time added on!

And OH didn't tell her to go home!

I am raging!

I've gone for my bath, but I feel obliged as its my fucking birthday present to go downstairs again.

At least then when they've fucked off we can both go to bed immediately!

Sorry that was a lot of swearing! Hmm

championnibbler · 12/03/2015 20:17

very inconsiderate of them.
your OH should have said go home.
i'd be fuming too.
you could just show them this thread Grin
just kidding, kind of.

Charlie97 · 12/03/2015 20:17

And my foot is really swollen, that's somehow her fault too!

VegasIsBest · 12/03/2015 20:33

Can't you just go to bed and your partner tell them you're not feeling well. They've been inconsiderate of your feelings so no need for you to be considerate if theirs.

VegasIsBest · 12/03/2015 20:34

Hope your foot feels better soon. Sounds miserable :-(

angelface34 · 12/03/2015 21:40

you dont need to ask people you dont know.

Charlie97 · 12/03/2015 22:01

Sorry angelface, what are you actually saying here? Don't ask people I don't knows opinion? Isn't that what AIBU, all about?

Anyway, to all the others..... They've gone and I am off up to bed! SmileSmileSmile
