Dear all,

Last week I had lunch with a work friend & we went to grab a coffee afterwards. She then announced to me in the cafe that I owed her, so I informed her I'd brought coffee for her the time we met before, but she said "No, you owe me for rescheduling", I didn't want to make a scene so I paid. This isn't really an issue about the money, but rather I feel really shocked by such behavior and like I don't want to meet this girl again. Am I being unreasonable here?

Nah, she's a dick. Get rid. But get a last coffee out of her first, then drop the bombshell as you leave without paying

YANBU she has been rude and I don't blame you for not wanting to meet up with her again. My friends and I usually have standoffs with us both insisting that we should pay and treat the other.

I'd rescheduled from the previous week as I had a meeting...

So why does she think you owe her? And owe her what exactly. Money?

How weird I've never heard of some social etiquette where if someone rearranges they should pay.

ILovePud: me too! Which was why I was so shocked some people treat others like this, worst of it was, I sent a message to her after the event outlining my unhappiness and she didn't say sorry, but just shed buy me a drink/coffee next time. Actually, I would rather buy my own/go without!!!
