To only leave feedback on EBay after I've received it

I understand that some buyers don't like it if sellers aren't the first ones to leave feedback because from their point of view, they've done all they needed to do once they've paid. However, I'm not going to comment on how great a buyer is until I know that they're not going to make unreasonable demands or ask to return an item just because they've changed their mind or say they haven't received it when they actually have, etc.

How do you know whether theyve receivedit unless they do feedback? Some buyers dont give feedback, so really, you are witholding your feedback til theyve given theirs.

I always give feedback as soon as I get the payment .

Suppose I am withholding my feedback and some people may actually mark me down as a seller for not leaving positive feedback as soon as someone has paid but the buyer can turn out to be a nightmare after they've paid so I feel it's hasty to leave feedback just because someone has made payment.

Did they pay on time? Then really that's all that matters in feedback.
If you find a buyer that turns into a nightmare you can't leave them bad feedback and if you leave a false positive it will be removed. That in turn only serves to make you, the seller, look a bit petty.

If you have a problem with a buyer go through the proper channels, file reports etc and eventually they will get removed.

As a buyer I won't leave feedback until the item arrives and I've checked it over.

I don't mind when a seller leaves feedback as long as at some point they leave it :-)

Yabu. It annoys me when sellers actually say they will leave feedback once the buyer has, and sounds like they are saying leave me good feedback and so will I. If I buy on eBay I pay straight away, a seller should put that on their feedback and not wait to see what the buyer says before deciding.m

It wouldn't bother me as a buyer when the seller leaves feedback, before or after I do, as long as it's within a couple of weeks of the transaction being processed.

How would you know though that a buyer is saying they've not received an item but they actually have? What sort of nightmare behaviour do you encounter?

And I think Perfectly makes a very good point. There's something vaguely threatening 'when sellers actually say they will leave feedback once the buyer has, and sounds like they are saying leave me good feedback and so will I.' Really out of order.

I leave a buyer good feedback (in fact I don't think I've ever left bad feedback- been very lucky!) when they give good service, and always wait until I've recieved whatever it is I've bought.

If the system worked properly, than once a buyer has paid they've kept up their part of the deal and at that point the seller should leave feedback. Once the item shows up as described, then the buy should leave feedback in turn.

It doesn't work properly though, and the way it does work means buyer feedback is pretty pointless.

As a buyer I won't bother to take the time to leave feedback for a seller if they don't bother to leave it for me.

I rarely use eBay but when I do I always pay by PayPal as soon as the auction closes.

The only seller who has left feedback was the one whose item never reached me and who accused me publicly of telling a lie about it and refused a refund.
