I really really miss Jesse and Celine and wonder what is happening in their lives. I want to email Richard Linklater and tell him he HAS to do another one, and how he has affected my life. I dreamt last night that I met Ethan Hawke and was telling him about the films and how I loved them and how I LOVE the dialogue, particularly the end-fight in Before Midnight, it was brilliant, everything I have ever wanted to say, and so realistic. Whenever I have had a bad day, I always know I can watch one of the those films and sink back into their world again of mixed-up and complicated everyday issues, but ultimately love and respect and real passion for one another. I suppose that is what everyone wants from a partnership ultimately isn't it? They feel so real to me. OK I know, wake up it is only a film!! Sorry yes I already know IABU. Is that a thing, IAKIABU? On the surface, I appear to be a quite well-rounded functioning human being, but I just can't keep it in any longer!! Anyone with me??

I do love them too - but I think three was it for me. Maybe I'll crave a third sequel in 10 years or so!

I did think Celine went slightly unrealistically psycho during that fight at the end of BM though ... sheesh, there was no need to flounce like that! Grin

Made me desperately want to go back to Greece.

I'm with u. Feel like I've grown up with Jesse and celine. Do u think another movie would see them in america with hank?

My husband adores them, in fact if I didn't know he was at work, I'd assume he had started this thread Smile. I like them, especially the second one but I find them a little too cringey in certain places, a little too self aware. He loves them because he's watched them when he's been the same age as the characters in each film.

I love those movies. Give it another 10 years...

Oh thank God you have answered, it is not just me then. :-) I do wonder if a 4th would ruin it, but I'm sure Richard (my BFF) would do it v well if there was another one; I think they are all so talented and full of integrity that it would have to be good or they wouldn't do it.

I know holiday-wise, I have been looking up holidays in the South Peloponnese ... hoping I will run into them. I wonder if a 4th would have them no longer together, I don't think I could take it!

We hired a beautiful chalet in the French Alps 2 years ago (just as Before Midnight was coming out) and my daughter came running up and said mummy, auntie X says you have to come down, and I went down to the Master bedroom, and there they were, the first 2 Befores on DVD on the shelf, and then I knew we were staying in the home of a kindred spirit and I had truly arrived in Paradise :-)

It is actually ridiculous the longing I feel to know what they are doing and how they are getting on. I am a full-grown LP of 3 children and wonder if I have just latched on to that fantasy of their relationship and all the passion but then it makes me think about loves I have let go in the past that now I wish I hadn't! In particular a wonderful foreign ex-boyfriend, and I imagine how our life could have been - bilingual children, living in the sun, (fighting. etc .. ) So it is always kind of bittersweet, but I love them even so! Thanks for replying Flowers

ps I am so sad that I actually bought one of Ethan Hawke's novels, now that is a truly deep dark secret that will never see the light of day in RL ...

He's not too shabby after over 20 years together, just stays the right side of feathery strokery for me Smile
