AIBU and completely petty - quite possibly!

Had house rendered and painted, final invoice paid in part but not in full due to a couple of minor issues outstanding.

One was fixed but now, two months later, I still have not paid the full balance because of a tiny crack in the paint on the window sill. I pointed this out at the time and was told it was because it was too cold outside when it was painted and assumed they would be back to fix it. It's so small, maybe as big as a matchstick.

AIBU to not pay until it's repainted or should I just move on... ?!

Is the company chasing you for payment? Have you discussed anything with them?

macdaddydoodah · 09/03/2015 18:26

No, they haven't chased payment. Was just about to email them and see when they were planning on repainting window and then wondered if I was being a bit ridiculous.

I think you are being YABU...what would it take to fix it?

kewtogetin · 09/03/2015 18:27

Yep, very petty, paint cracks, especially round windows/door frames where there are big differences in temperature. Pay up, you're being unfair.

macdaddydoodah · 09/03/2015 18:30

I imagine a bit of a sanding down and then a dab of the paint. We don't have the paint or else I probably would have just done it myself by now. It's flaked slightly and you can see the old colour underneath.

YANBU. do the job (properly) and THEN get paid. Simple.

Bailey101 · 09/03/2015 18:47

YANBU - you haven't paid for a job to be done so that you can finish it yourself. Also, it might be a wee crack just now but if it gets weather damaged it'll get worse and worse.
