To think fever should have gone by now?

Hi everyone, started getting fever last Friday followed by a nasty cough. Chest infection diagnosed Wednesday (Dr could hear infection in chest, so not viral) and amoxicillin 500mg was prescribed.

I started taking them immediately so had 3 full days now, but still got temperature of 38.4 despite taking paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Should the ABs not have kicked that by now?! Am going away next Friday so desperately want to be better by then...do you think another trip to docs is needed or am I jumping the gun? x

Even if they're not working I doubt a doctor would do anything til you'd given the abs a better go.

I would go back and ask for culture and sensitivities, there is a high chance your infection is resistant to amoxicillin.
