to think Red Noses are poor quality again this year!

Red Noses in school from this week, DC pestered me for one yesterday and today I just happened to have a quid in my pocket at school pick up, so told DD she could get hers today. It lasted 2 hours before cracking at the top and bottom of where your nose goes in it. Exactly like last year. And I'm pretty sure the year before that too.

Why don't they just save themselves the bother of making them, and ask people to donate a quid? They are so rubbish. Pisses me right off. Not buying another one and not getting DS one now either! Angry

Totally agree!

CalleighDoodle · 03/03/2015 21:36

I bought my dc one each today. Th egg couldnt even get them on their noses

MooMaid · 03/03/2015 21:39

Bloody RND - I NEVER do RND and shan't be buying the bloody nose either!

DarylDixonsDarlin · 03/03/2015 21:43

Such a shame though, you'd think a massive charity event like that would at least have decent merchandise. I'm happy to donate a quid per child for it, but what impression is it giving the DCs - they're probably too young to "get" the comedy on the tv when the event is on, so their take on it must be RND, oh look its those shitty red noses again, pile of crap and they're not going to continue to donate as adults are they. Shooting themselves in the nose foot I reckon Confused

Think of the landfill...

I bought one each and refuse to buy more (not saying I wouldn't donate more). But wi h they could have chosen which design they wanted.

usualsuspect333 · 03/03/2015 21:44

Does it matter?

usualsuspect333 · 03/03/2015 21:45

My cats been playing with the one I bought.

TheBookofRuth · 03/03/2015 21:50

Yeah, DD's had split before we got it home.

foslady · 03/03/2015 22:12

It does matter usual when your dd gets narked because she can't wear her nose on the day because it's split on falls straight off again remembers last RND with bitterness at dd and her classes pissed offness when they practically all had split open before the day and glad she's now 2 years older and past that stage

PrettyFeet · 03/03/2015 22:15

Why on earth should it matter? You are giving to a fabulous charity, do you really want something of "quality" in return?

Nuts!

DarylDixonsDarlin · 04/03/2015 12:34

It matters (to me) for the reason I've given above. Why don't they just not spend the money on manufacturing crap, and put it towards the charity instead? We know they are crap, they must know they are crap, I just feel they're presenting a poor image - anyone trying to get the public to part with their money, for whatever reason, charity, small business, market trader, doesn't need to be giving the public a poor quality product in return.

I've got no objection to giving a quid per child for the charity, but if they are giving something to me in return i feel it should last the week until actual red nose day! I've got Pudsey merchandise here that's 10 years old, plus countless metal charity pins, pink ribbons etc, so why do red noses have to be such poor quality?

This is the first year I've bought one, as DD wanted one when she saw the branding all over the shop. But of course you don't know which one you're going to get in the pack. I know why they've done that - so you'll buy more - but had a rather upset 3yo who couldn't understand that she couldn't chose the one she liked best.

First world problem and all, there.

farewellfigure · 04/03/2015 12:38

I love red nose day. Yep, the noses always split but I don't care. I actually celebrate inwardly when the merchandise hits the shop so I can go and splurge. They are a fantastic charity.

Don't buy the noses if you don't like them... buy something else. I've got these really cool nail wraps which I can't wait to put on (though DS is under the mistaken impression he will get to share them... jog on). And a nice little lapel badge. And I've asked for the umbrella for my birthday. There's loads of quality stuff. I guess the noses are just impossible to manufacture any other way as they must be aware of the ripping potential. Maybe they just can't do it. To be honest they don't stay on and hurt if you wear them too long anyway. I always imagined they were more for the fun of it... to collect... rather than actually for wearing.

WipsGlitter · 04/03/2015 12:50

It's not nuts! Just because it's for charideeeee doesn't mean they can be crap quality. The plastic ones were better than the foam ones.

DarylDixonsDarlin · 04/03/2015 12:52

Ah ok, I didn't realise they did a whole range of other merchandise too! Thanks I will keep a look out for it - we've a big new Asda recently opened near us so perhaps they will have some of it in there Smile

I cant keep a nose on for more than a minute, hate having to breathe through my mouth! Grin

Dakiara · 04/03/2015 12:53

I loved the idea of the pins this year, but only one design alas. :-(

DarylDixonsDarlin · 04/03/2015 12:54

The plastic ones we had as children used to hurt your nose, but they stayed on and didn't break! Wonder if you can still get the ones that go on the front of your car Grin

Bramshott · 04/03/2015 13:03

Does anyone else remember the original red noses which were plastic and hollow and pinched the sides of your nose??

Bramshott · 04/03/2015 13:03

Oops - X post!
