AIBU? Cat Poo Vs Dog Poo Thread....

Firstly, I raise my hands and say that I have four cats who do their business in probably lots of my neighbours gardens.

Somewhat disapppointed then to find my neighbours have let their dog do a mahoosive poo three foot from my front door. We are on a shared drive, but the section of grass he has messed on is "ours" and he would have been on his lead so I assume they just stood there and let him.

Am I being a hypocrite about this?

not all cat bury.
we sometimes have a not so lovely supply of fox and cat shit on the lawn.

YANBU. Any responsible dog owner (most of them IMO) will pick up their dog poo. However it won't harm you to pick this one up without grumbling. Look upon it as a tiny bit of payback for all the turds that your cats leave in other's gardens, including places like my raised vegetable beds (and no, HazelNutt, they're most definitely not buried!).

Invizicat · 02/03/2015 14:21

I am a cat and a dog owner so I too am not biased.

YANBU. Unfortunately there is no earthly way cat owners can control the whereabouts of their cats' toileting. Most cats choose soft, easily diggable soil like a childs sandpit or a newly dug veg patch and they are unlikely to choose an open lawn. (Non cat owners often mistake hedghog or fox poo for cats). But there just isn't a way of finding it and clearing it up without the owner tresspassing across multiple gardens.

Dogs don't have the option to poo free range.

It's karma OP Grin

I thought it was a legal thing with dog poo, or is that just in certain places, or have I made up the legal bit

Collaborate · 02/03/2015 16:00

I think it is a legal thing with dog poo.

In fact it's part 6 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

corgiology · 02/03/2015 20:06

Of course you can control your cat.

That is why people have indoor cats, cat proofed gardens and take them out on a lead. www.protectapuss.co.uk/ is one such example of a cat proofed garden.

Letting your cat annoy your neighbours is very irresponsible and promotes poor welfare for the cat. What if your neighbour poisons it? It gets run over? It gets stolen?

Seriously, it is time cat owners stopped using the 'natural' excuse and started taking responsibility.

crazypenguin · 02/03/2015 20:09

Yes YABU. It's at least in plain sight. You won't stick your trowel in it when planting bulbs.

maninawomansworld · 02/03/2015 22:15

Yabu. You're happy for your cats to leave their calling cards everywhere so it's a little bit of karma finding a dog poo outside your front door??

I feel this poster is a bridge dweller

Cats DON'T bury. The 4 turds that are currently on my turd that I can see from my window are testament to that. Fucking annoying it is. I aren't condoning what your neighbour has done but he's probably sick to death of your cacky assed crapping all over his property and your attitude of Oh I can't do anything about it.

They can be trained, their owners just be bothered too.
