I have a friend who is very self obsessed. She had a traumatic time about 4 years ago. Since then she has become very self obsessed. She has lost many friends but I have known her from we were babies so I just take all her selfishness with a pinch of salt and carry on with my life. HOWEVER! Recently it's been pissing me off. Eg she cancels our outings a lot for no good reason. Eg "I need to clean the house" and she only rings when it suits her etc. so I was giving her a wide berth. Just getting on with my own stuff and not worrying toouch about her. So she began ringing again so I just go with it.

Then today, she rang me on her mobile. While talking her house phone rang and she said "just a sec" I heard her answe her house phone and she just fucking hung up on me! No attempt to say oh rhyme I'll ring u back, she just disconnected.
When she rang back I didn't answer. The more I think on it the angrier I am. Confused

She's not your friend.

Sorry.

Mouthfulofquiz · 23/02/2015 19:50

Unless it was an absolute emergency I would be pissed off too. Avoid.

Rhymerocket · 23/02/2015 19:52

YANBU, but my mum does this to me if someone knocks at the door when I'm on the phone to her! I get the 'oh, your brother's here' and immediate hang up, or 'ooh there's someone at the door', cue hang up!!

She kind of goes into a panic mode for some reason, can't handle more than one thing at once, so drops the 'least demanding'! I used to struggle with it but now I just laugh at her.

Rhymerocket · 23/02/2015 19:58

Tin she didn't even say that she said hang on a sec. I heard her say
Hello?
Oh hello how are you
Then......click!
Nothing.

Thankyoumrspatterson · 23/02/2015 20:53

What a bitch! Yadnbu

AntiHop · 23/02/2015 20:54

She sounds very rude

expatinscotland · 23/02/2015 20:57

Just don't bother responding. Seriously, just start blowing her off. She has no problem doing this to you.

CaptainAnkles · 23/02/2015 20:59

You're there to be picked up and used when it suits her and dropped the moment something else comes along, including a different phone call. She's no friend.

CrazyRainbowLady · 23/02/2015 21:01

The phone thing sounds rude.
The rest makes me wonder if she may be depressed..

Rhymerocket · 23/02/2015 21:02

I'm defo blowing her off now.

My husband does this. His point of view is I am the rude one as he needs to go as it may be important and i shouldn't complain. HmmConfused

expatinscotland · 23/02/2015 21:08

The rest makes me wonder if she may be depressed..

That's not the OP's problem, if she even is. Hmm

She treats you like shit, Rhyme. Just cut her out.

ShaturdayNight · 23/02/2015 21:14

I wouldn't reply to her anymore. Just ignore her.

what a rude cow

Rhymerocket · 23/02/2015 21:15

I don't think she's depressed!
No one would pull her on her redness to start because she had had a tough time. So it just continues unchecked and has in my view spiralled from that.

expatinscotland · 23/02/2015 21:38

If she is it is her problem to deal with, not yours to put up someone who continually cancels at the last minute, rings only to dump on you, etc. Wouldn't respond any more.
