To go out tonight even though DS isn't well?

DS is nearly seven months and DP and I have never really left him with anyone else since he was born. We'd decided to bite the bullet tonight and go to a 50th birthday party for one of DP's colleagues, and FIL offered to babysit. Now DS has a cold. He's fine really, but very snuffly and didn't sleep properly last night. He's gone to sleep fine now but I'm worried he'll keep waking and need lots of resettling and it'll be awful for both of them, whereas we were hoping he'd sleep til he usually wakes for a feed at 11ish, when we'll be back. AIBVU still to contemplate going, just for an hour (so we'll be gone two, including travel time). I was very excited about dressing in something that didn't require boob access...

YANBU at all!

If you don't go out because your little one has a cold, you may well never leave the house!

He's asleep, he's with family -the worse that will happen is he wakes up and FIL decides its easier to keep him up and play with him than try and resettle him to sleep

Ratbagcatbag · 21/02/2015 18:48

I'd go. If it's too much FIL can ring you, when I once did this dd proved me wrong and slept. I was so frustrated. (Obviously happy she was ok though)

Thanks all- feel a bit less guilty! FIL is on route and I'm about to break out an actual shift dress with a zippy back.

He's with his grandpa, he'll be fine! Go and enjoy. :)

Cold fine, sickness bug no, if I never left the house when my kids has colds I'd probably never leave the house!

Don't worry he will be fine with his grandad. Enjoy your evening. Smile

Go, and enjoy yourself. Even he does wake and is unsettled he will be with his grandad and its a couple of mildly stressful hours for the two of them at most Smile
