Trying to find a place to stay for Easter week! 2 adults and 3 kids, and we'd like to stay in Sandsend or similar nice beach place in Yorkshire. Any tips gratefully received!

You should totally read The Whitby Witches before you go.

Have a look at Staithes, we had a lovely long weekend there in Auntie Annie's cottage, it's tiny but there is one owned by the same people that is bigger. Its right on the harbour wall, a short walk to rock pools and only 5 minutes from the sandy beach and the cod and lobster pub :)

We stayed in the old school house (I think it was called) several years ago. From what I remember it was at the top of a lane with very pretty cottages.

Not much help but didn't not want to reply. I loved Sandsend but for some reason OH didn't like it much. It may have had something to do with the weather, which wasn't very kind to us unfortunately.

staithes is on the bus route to whitby etc. it is a bit touristy but no so.much as the other places so you may get something a little cheaper there.

theres a lovely beach and tea rooms etc there.

Yabu! Is this what this section has become?? Surely there's a section on here more relevant for such stuff.

AIBU has long been an extension of chat.

Staithes! Go to Staithes. It is just magic.

MimmeeBack · 21/02/2015 21:59

I know a lovely cottage that is actually in Whitby if you have no objections to being in the town itself.

Simile · 21/02/2015 23:14

Staithes is pretty but it stinks IMO. Too many seagulls nesting. Robin Hoods Bay is lovely, as is Sandsend.

Wolfbasher · 21/02/2015 23:17

Will check out Stithies (despite the seagull stink!) as hadn't even heard of it before.

Mimmee - would be interested in the cottage you know about, no objection to being in Whitby

pinkdelight - i am sure there is a chance of this thread ending up as much of an AIBU bunfight as any other if we try hard enough!

Runswick Bay is gorgeous, really lovely sheltered safe sandy beach.

Staithes is where old Jacks Boat on Cbeeies is filmed if it helps

hauntedhenry · 22/02/2015 09:22

I second Runswick Bay!

Petradreaming · 22/02/2015 14:55

I have never noticed the seagulls smelling to be honest. They are a bit noisy to be fair but you get used to them :-)
