To be desperate for some time on my own? Half term/grumpy introvert

DonkeysYears · 20/02/2015 21:32

Haven't had more than ten minutes on my own for 7 days - aagh! Anyone else feel my pain?

TwoOddSocks · 20/02/2015 21:33

Yes. Although to be fair my toddler only goes to preschool 9 hours a week anyway. But ever since he dropped his nap I find myself desperate for an hour to myself just to stare at a screen and switch off (even though I obviously love him to bits). I just need time alone!

TheFirstOfHerName · 20/02/2015 21:35

Yes! Every night this week I have ended up staying up far later than I should, just because I need a certain amount of solitude in order to remain sane.

DonkeysYears · 20/02/2015 21:36

My problem is that mine are a bit older so haven't been going to bed till about half nine which gives me precisely half an hour before bed which is not enough! By eight thirty I just don't want to talk to them anymore and they start driving me nuts!

sosix · 20/02/2015 21:38

Snap!!! Im going out for the day sans dcs on sunday so that should help!

Asleeponasunbeam · 20/02/2015 21:39

Oh yes, me! My mum was here for 6 days which was brilliant but meant no solitude at any time! Two under 5's here. And I'm a teacher so really long for time to myself as I get literally none of it. DS (2) appears to have stopped napping, so I might not even get that next week. I'm on my way to bed now so I can read for half an hour, but even DH's (mostly silent!) company is getting to me a bit.

KingJoffreyObviouslyWatchesHol · 20/02/2015 21:40

Another introvert here.

Also looking forward to a day to myself.

Silence. Bliss.

Fairylea · 20/02/2015 21:42

Another anti social so and so here. Grin

I need some peace!

DonkeysYears · 20/02/2015 21:42

Just been told mine are off out with DH on Sunday for a few hours - I will lie on the sofa watching Million Dollar Listing New York and talk. to. no-one.

OP posts:
Lazaretto · 20/02/2015 21:43

I cam imagine...Hang in there...

BlackDaisies · 20/02/2015 21:45

TheFirstOfHerName I do that too. Til 1am some nights, then up every day at half 6. I'm on my knees with tiredness half the time but just LOVE that peace and quiet in the evening!

DonkeysYears · 20/02/2015 21:46

And I hope they chew DHs ear off. For the last 2 nights he's appeared at my exact half hour 'peace time' tipsy from 'meetings' and chuntered onto me about rubbish whilst demanding cuddles.

OP posts:
Asleeponasunbeam · 20/02/2015 21:51

Cuddles. I'm seriously all cuddled out. I even kicked the cat off the bed just now and she's as antisocial as me, poor bugger.

So good to know other people feel like this. Sometimes I forget it's my introversion and think I'm depressed. But I can easily recharge with adequate solitude and space.

DonkeysYears · 20/02/2015 21:53

Exactly, aslee I just need to recharge. Uninterrupted.

OP posts:
MaryBerrysLostCherry · 20/02/2015 21:53

Joffrey I love that!

I am feeling the pressure of all these people ( who I love dearly) around me. Only thing getting me through is 24 hours to myself next weekend.

TwoOddSocks · 20/02/2015 22:13

Oh MY god yes to pointlessly staying up late just for some time to myself! I still have multiple night wakings why am I up reading mums net at 11pm (not in UK so one hour in front)!

TwoOddSocks · 20/02/2015 22:15

I swear half the reason I use to smoke was so I could escape outside for 10 minutes. My toddler used to only take a good nap if he was next to me in bed which was great when we had visitors because it guaranteed me an hour to myself during the day!

sosix · 20/02/2015 22:23

Mine keep coming downstairs...ahhhh!!!

nottheOP · 20/02/2015 22:27

I don't ever have time on my own. 9 hours a week?!!

I get up and ready, nursery run, work very near to nursery and then reverse. Ds has also just dropped the nap. I'm frazzled and turning into a loner!

NormHonal · 20/02/2015 22:33

Me too, OP.

My DCs have been surprisingly good this week, keeping themselves entertained for ooh, maybe ten minutes at a time. With the occasional solo toilet trip mostly not though.

I've been sneaking off with my iPads as much as I can, but nowhere near as much as I'd have liked.

NormHonal · 20/02/2015 22:34

Ipad singular, not plural.

lertgush · 21/02/2015 00:57

I've had a similar week OP, until this afternoon.

I had the best of intentions to take the kids sledding.

I had a little lie down on my bed to read for 10 minutes. Woke up 2 hours later.

Ahhhhhhhh.

DustyMaiden · 21/02/2015 01:20

My 85 year old MIL who has alzheimers moved in with me yesterday, she has just gone to bed. I want to scream.

DonkeysYears · 21/02/2015 11:50

dusty, that's tough, is it a permanent move?

OP posts:
DustyMaiden · 21/02/2015 20:39

Yes, I think it is, two falls in two weeks, we kept her at home as long as possible. The worst part is she I making me watch Ant and Dec.
