To expect slippers to last more than 1 month?

It doesn't seem to matter where I buy slippers from, they all fall apart after a month. We have no carpets downstairs so I'm always wearing them and they always hole in the same place. Do I just have weird feet and a heavy walk? Or is there an amazing, beautiful, durable slipper shop you can recommend? Thank you Smile

LL Bean make the most wonderful luxurious slippers ever. They're built to last.

WannabeLaraCroft · 18/02/2015 19:53

You're lucky - mine only ever last a fortnight! Whether Primark or M&S, no luck.

dementedpixie · 18/02/2015 19:54

The ones I get from Tesco last until they are smelly and horrible. I get ones with a plastic sole as they are more durable

BikeRunSki · 18/02/2015 19:54

amazing, durable slippers

londonrach · 18/02/2015 19:55

londonrach · 18/02/2015 19:55

Celtic sheepskin shortie boots

5 years so far. I couldn't bear something wearing out in a month, how environmentally unfriendly is that?

Buy once even though they're expensive

dementedpixie · 18/02/2015 19:56

these are the ones I have just now

X post Laurie

I love my Celtic House boots. Machine washable too!

I have the same problem, made worse by having wide feet but nowhere does wide fitting slippers.

The best slippers I had were sketches mule slippers, the sole was similar to the sole on trainers and was about 1.5" thick. I had them for 18 months until I caught the knitted upper and it unraveled. I got them in the sale for £10 instead of £30 and I've not had the money to get another pair since.

farewellfigure · 19/02/2015 18:49

I have the same problem but the pair I'm currently wearing have lasted about a year. They are scandi-boot style ones that DM bought for about a tenner. They've just about had it, but I'll be buying the same again. So comfy, and longer-lasting than any I've had before. Maybe it's because they're boots, so they stay on better and don't wiggle around and wear out.

I have these and they're good.although design wise I don't love the holey design and prefer the look of the first ones.

Showy · 19/02/2015 21:07

I prefer to be barefoot but live in a building site atm and need slippers. DH's grandma bought me the fairly expensive Moshulu Bo slippers for Christmas in 2013. I wear them every day, from 7am until I go to bed at silly o'clock. Only take them off to put on my DMs when outside. I take them to people's houses. I wear them for hours and hours at a time. Over a year of heavy duty wear and they are as new. They're flipping amazing.

shutupayaface · 19/02/2015 22:27

I wear cheap Rockport shoes as slippers. So comfortable - slippers suck. Smile

Bodicea · 19/02/2015 22:41

got a pair of uggs for Christmas too. They aren't the slippers judst te classics but I will be using them purely for slippers. I figured the amount I spend on mediocre slippers that fall apart makes it not so much of a splurge as they will last ages

RudeBarbandCustard · 19/02/2015 22:48

I have Crocs slippers, fleecy lined ones. They're amazing.

I don't have carpet downstairs, and I have dogs, so need something on my feet. And can pop outside without taking them off. They're durable, washable, warm and comfy. And pink.

You can remove the fleece lining, and chuck the whole lot in the washing machine. The lining is a bit awkward to get on and off though.

OK they're ugly, make my feet look massive, but who cares.

My only disappointment is that although I loved getting new slippers at Christmas I'm unlikely to ever need another pair of slippers again, as they're still as good as new 3 years on from wearing them every single day.

Sleeplessinstreatham99 · 19/02/2015 22:52

Ugg slippers are fab, although I really don't like other Uggs. DH did think they were outrageously expensive, but we had a cost per wear discussion, and now he's got some too. It's a bit tweedledee and tweedledum, but they are lovely.

whitewineandchocolate · 19/02/2015 22:53

Have also had slippers from everywhere that have been rubbish, have a Moshulu pair at the moment and I am very pleased with them and will buy again.

Summerisle1 · 20/02/2015 00:23

Another Moshulu fan here. Divine and comfy slippers that seem almost indestructible!

benetint · 21/02/2015 08:01

Oh brilliant suggestions, thanks so much! A quick question about the long life slippers... Are you able to wash them?
