DD is 12 years old. Is this too young? I have never seen it btw.

  1. It's, um... quite explicit. Not one to watch with mother!
girlgamergoesbad · 08/02/2015 22:25

I think I was about 12 when I first watched it, when I was at a friends house. Probably a bit too young, if it were my child I'd say about 14. I don't think a silly film will do too much harm in the long run though!

RJnomore · 08/02/2015 22:25

I'd maybe let my 15yo watch it - but maybe not . 12, no way.

Fairylea · 08/02/2015 22:25

12?! Are you mad? Shock Way too young. I don't know what the actual certificate is but I'd say 15 at a minimum.

Finola1step · 08/02/2015 22:25

It's probably quite an eye opener for a 12 year old.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 08/02/2015 22:25

One of my favourite films. 12 is far too young. I'd say 15/16.

Fairylea · 08/02/2015 22:25

Sorry if that sounded too rude of me by the way it's just I know it really well and it's very rude! Very sexual.

TooSpotty · 08/02/2015 22:26

I'm 38 and wouldn't watch it with my parents!

15/16? Our 12 year old would probably find it hilarious already but half of it would go over his head.

VeryVeryDarkGrey · 08/02/2015 22:26

Id say 14 or 15. Not a 12 yo. Maybe watch it and see what you think

I remember seeing it at the cinema when I was 14 (it was a 15 certificate). I think that's young enough.

EldonAve · 08/02/2015 22:29

it is rated 15

Mrsjayy · 08/02/2015 22:31

No it is extreme ly rude and iinnaproriate for a 12yr old it is a 15.

TheHermitCrab · 08/02/2015 22:32

Next time you need to know about films, search for it on the IMDB website and look at the "parents guide" very helpful.

12 way too young for that film...

It's all about sex and getting laid... the humor is explicit won't/shouldn't mean much to a 12 year old and they won't find it funny... (except some toilet humor)

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/02/2015 22:40

What eatshit said

CallMeExhausted · 08/02/2015 22:42

I'd say never. It is garbage and time she will never get back.

coffeetofunction · 08/02/2015 22:43

My DS is dying to watch it....14 or 15 though, it's quite rude

sticklebrickstickle · 08/02/2015 22:44

Think I was about 13 (Year 9) when I first watched it (and in school! Naive teacher was convinced by class it was suitable when someone brought in the DVD at the end of term.) Yes it is pretty rude and gross but there wasn't anything in it that was particularly shocking to me at that age - some of the things we were looking up online were much worse.

It is rated a 15 though so 12 probably too young.

SallySolomon · 09/02/2015 01:09

I love American Pie. Very funny. My eldest started high school last year and turns 12 this year though and no wayyyyyy would I let him watch it. HIGHLY inappropriate for a 12 year old.
All about being the first to lose your virginity before your mates, wanking to porno mags, coming too early in front of the exchange student who straddles you in your bedroom and which has been inadvertently broadcast to the entire school via webcam.
No NO to 12.

Notrevealingmyidentity · 09/02/2015 01:17

I think I must have been quite young when I saw it because watching it back recently I realised a lot of the jokes were lost in me. So 14/15 maybe a bit younger when I saw it.

I did not understand the apple pie reference. I think I just thought he wanted to put his cock into a pie and didn't dwell on why.

Notrevealingmyidentity · 09/02/2015 01:18

So no not at 12.

tinklykeys · 09/02/2015 01:25

I would have said 18! But I think it's a horrible film anywAy. Not suitable for kids at all...
