to think DH should see a GP tomorrow?

DH has a swollen testicle, he knocked it ever so slightly yesterday but not enough to hurt him at the time.

Today it has a swollen (fairly significantly). He had vasectomy in Oct, and had an issue with this side after.

He is a typical male and won't go to the GP unless pushed. He should go shouldn't he?

Yes he should.

ImperialBlether · 25/01/2015 18:41

Ouch! Poor guy. Yes, he should go and get checked out.

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 18:43

ImperialBlether he is grumbling about it, which is very unusual. He went back to work after 1 day off post vasectomy (think that's what caused him a problem the 1st time!). He never moans, so him saying its sore, it must be very sore.

Do feel sorry for him.

Yes, poor guy sounds like he is in pain

MamaLazarou · 25/01/2015 18:46

Bless him! My DH had a big swollen ball a few months back - it turned out to be a kidney infection, of all things.

Horribly embarrassing but then the GP has seen it all before and won't bat an eyelid.

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 18:49

MamaLazarou - ouch, read that about Kidney infection. Been googling but nothing seems to match his symptoms, onset. Will send him off to GP tomorrow.

What would help tonight, apart from painkillers? heat, cold ?

OP posts:
MamaLazarou · 25/01/2015 18:51

Ibuprofen and rest (DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor)

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 18:53

I can just imagine poor Dh's face if I come towards him with an ice pack. Perhaps I will leave him alone!

MamaLazarou - ibuprofen and rest sounds like a plan.

OP posts:
MamaLazarou · 25/01/2015 18:57

Yes, ice might make the testicle shrink back which might make your DH feel much worse!

Deffo make him go to the GP tomorrow though.

HappyAgainOneDay · 25/01/2015 18:57

I hope he's okay, OP. Flowers

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 18:59

Thank you. Sure he will be ok, lots of sympathy tonight.

Hydroseal? Yep go ASAP, my friend got one banging on an amp and ended up with removal because he left it too long

knackered69 · 25/01/2015 19:02

How bad is the pain at the moment? Poor bloke -has he had it for long?

MamaLazarou · 25/01/2015 19:03

What an appropriate user name. Grin

Showy · 25/01/2015 19:09

You do not mess about with testicles. Unless as part of consensual adult fun. Grin

DH has had his fair share of testicular trauma, including a full torsion years ago and problems with epididymal cysts.

He had problems on one side post vasectomy and after a few months and a slight knock developed a v swollen and sore testicle. He had epididymo-orchitis.

Please tell your DH to see the GP. If he is in a lot of pain this evening which is worse than it has been or he feels unwell, then it is worth going tonight.

I stood on one of my dad's

?? my dad, has only got one ball ??

LadyFairfaxSake · 25/01/2015 19:23

Get to the GP or even A&E. It might be a torsion, where the spermatic cord gets a knot. It could lead to the loss of the testicle. I had one as a child & had to have an operation to untangle the trapped cord. Please don't delay, get it checked out as soon as possible. Hope it is ok.

LuluJakey1 · 25/01/2015 19:29

I would take him to A and E tonight as a precaution. Funny things testicles! If it has swollen it suggests trapped fluid or inflammation- needs checking asap.

knackered69 · 25/01/2015 19:45

That's kinda what I was thinking - after vasectomy they can be slightly more mobile so it might be an idea to get it checked tonight to rule out a torsion - it most likely iisn't but still...

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 19:48

Thanks all.

He is in the shower at the moment, will have a look when he gets out (who said romance is dead!). I did try to convince him to go to the walk in before it shut at 8 (won't get there in time now). If it looks worse/horrific I will pack him off to a & e.

MamLazarou - purely coincidental - is one of the books the kids love.

Nah! tell him no to bother , it is a self limiting condition , eventually it will go green and develop gangrene and drop off , bobs your uncle , no more bother from the pesky little fella , just pop along to your nearest farm supplies stockists and get some purple powder , dab it on liberally and he probably won't go septic . OR he could go to the GP , who has seen more intimate parts than the rest of the population can point a pointy stick at , who , unless you have a tattoo on your intimate parts with a particularly jovial joke on , cannot put a testicle to a face , EVER ! It doesn't work like that , I have seen a thousand Foo's and I honestly cannot put the individual Foo to a face , you are too busy trying to get the right hole ( so the patient doesn't end up looking like an octopus) or you are too busy trying to work out what is wrong with the poorly Foo , or not inflicting more pain on the poor Foo . Tell him it may be the first time he has waved it at a stranger for him , but it will not have been for the GP Grin

frumpet · 25/01/2015 20:51

Oh dear , that last line sounds so wrong !

grumpalumpgrumped · 25/01/2015 21:10

frumpet that made me chuckle. He is not embarrassed, just hates making a fuss.

It looks no worse/slightly less swollen. Will get him to go to GP tomorrow.

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 26/01/2015 21:18

Is he Ok today?

grumpalumpgrumped · 26/01/2015 21:25

Swelling has gone down a fair bit, still hurts. He has promised to go tomorrow if no better. I am less concerned as swelling looks better.
Thanks you for the advice. I tried to convince him, the fact its not fell off over night just convinces him he was right not to go!
