Island life

I don't know if it's an introvert's cop out but I have a really strong feeling that, if it wasn't all wrong for DH and DS, I would be doing this.

I would just love to stand in the emptiness every day and breathe.

Maybe I have had my brain washed by Katy Morag.

That is a beautiful house but I couldn't cope with the complete isolation (assume it isn't on a housing estate Grin)

Summerisle1 · 14/01/2015 19:23

Absolutely beautiful house. Far too isolated for me. I live in a deeply rural area already and long for civilisation!

CharlesRyder · 14/01/2015 19:23

It's so unfettered and pretty!

People are so complicated and boundary orientated. I could just chat to myself and my chickens and collie all day. Maybe email DH and DS??

I remember this one from Grand Designs and I loved it...I would live there like a shot too, I'd take DH and DS with me if I could!
Aaaah the peace. The tranquility. Bliss.

Tipsykisses · 14/01/2015 19:25

That looks like sheer bliss to me !
I'd pack up dc & the mutts & leave tomorrow !! Smile

Id love it and have in fact suggested similar to my family. Who were horrified.

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/01/2015 19:27

I'd be in heaven if I could take the family with me.

I love nothing more than laying on my back looking up at nothing, hearing nothing and doing nothing.

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 14/01/2015 19:27

Is there absolutely no neighbours?

If there was, say 5-10 neighbours Id LOVE it.

holls2000 · 14/01/2015 19:28

that's our dream!!!! yanbu

dillite · 14/01/2015 19:29

I would so love to live there! And seeing that I have no business, I don't care abount everyone being in my business Grin.

ghostinthecanvas · 14/01/2015 19:29

Beautiful home. Shame its on Tiree. I lived the island life for over 40 years. I found it a bit claustrophobic.

BetsyM00 · 14/01/2015 19:29

But it's not isolated. If you look at the third last picture it shows a house next door, as in RIGHT NEXT DOOR!

weegiemum · 14/01/2015 19:30

I spent 10 years living in the Hebrides, and return often for visits. We still keep our house there as dh and I aren't 100% sure we'd never go back.

But give me glasgow for the dc, the convenience, and the sheer anonymity!!

Bloodymidges · 14/01/2015 19:30

Oh yes. Oh yes yes yes. I'd love for that to be my retirement. Just the still and quiet and beautiful. I'd just spend my days pottering, or reading, or walking, or doing blissful nothing.......

skolastica · 14/01/2015 19:31

Bit difficult to breathe in 50 plus mph winds that are currently blowing. Not to mention buy food when the boat hasn't delivered for 7 days...
(typical January)
(did I mention the hailstones?)
PS that house is far too perfect

Trooperslane · 14/01/2015 19:32

Jesus. It's stunning but I'm a confirmed city girl.

Me and DH culchie spent a week in Colonsay a few years ago and by day 3 I was rocking in a corner wailing 'where are all the PEOPLE?!"

Was beautiful and I read 8 books. Not sure id do it again.

Trooperslane · 14/01/2015 19:33

Weegiemum ^^ this

Tinks42 · 14/01/2015 19:34

A scattered 4 weeks out of the year would be bliss, any more than that and I'd go cuckoo/ end up talking to myself more than I already do.

ByTheWishingWell · 14/01/2015 19:34

That hose is beautiful. I would love to live somewhere so remote that I could wander round all day without seeing anyone else... DP does not agree Sad

NobodyLivesHere · 14/01/2015 19:36

Oh I'd love it.

skolastica · 14/01/2015 19:39

There was no food delivery on Tiree for 6 days - first one was today. Empty shop shelves anyone?

SocialMediaAddict · 14/01/2015 19:56

Beautiful house but it's my idea of hell. I seem to be the only mumsnetter who loves living in London.

CatsRule · 14/01/2015 20:13

No neighbours...fab
Isolation...fab
Location...fab
House...no - seems very cold and not homely at all, I'm cold just looking at it maybe I'm too used to living in toy hell
