To ask for my postage costs back?

I ordered something from a well known High Street retailers website and was told it would arrive within the standard 3-5 working days. Today is the 5th day and I've only just received a dispatch confirmation. Would you contact them to claim back your postage charge?

nothing to loose by giving it a try

BadtzMaru · 05/01/2015 17:30

I bet they have something in the terms and conditions about bank holidays, which Thursday and Friday were so I doubt you'll get anywhere.

Sn00p4d · 05/01/2015 17:59

YABU given that the 1st and 2nd were bank holidays and the 3rd and 4th we're weekend days and not considered "working days" by most delivery companies.

PortofinoVino · 05/01/2015 18:25

Sunday wasn't a working day, Thursday was a Bank Holiday, Sat isn't a working day. So you are actually only on Day 2.

londonrach · 05/01/2015 18:26

Maybe but only if the 5 days are proper working days!

KenAdams · 05/01/2015 18:36

Sorry, I meant today is the 5th working day. Friday wasn't a Bank Holiday.

If it's Mothercare their deliveries have been buggered by city link going under. I ordered a car seat on the 24th Dec, and even with bank holidays and weekends it's been ages and no sign of it yet. Not getting annoyed as it was well out of their control, but DS is getting far too big for his current car seat.

PortofinoVino · 05/01/2015 18:40

So meh: give them a bit of slack - it was New Year after all. Perhaps they only went back into work today like a lot of firms.

joanne1947 · 05/01/2015 19:27

If by Today is the 5th day you mean the 5th working day than Yes complain as they are outside what they promised.

londonrach · 05/01/2015 19:35

I think at xmas time id give abit of slack op if friday was 5th working day.

NadiaWadia · 05/01/2015 20:12

Are you sure Friday 2nd was a Bank Holiday? I thought it was normally just one day for New Year (so Thursday)?

BadtzMaru · 05/01/2015 21:19

In Scotland we get the 2nd too, don't know if that affects the post and stuff for the rest of the uk.

gamerchick · 05/01/2015 21:23

What date did you put the order in?

Sychnant · 05/01/2015 21:44

Did they say DELIVERY takes 3-5 working days? As often they mean "in addition to the time it actually takes us to despatch it"

Have been caught out by this one before :p

Sixgeese · 05/01/2015 22:23

Friday was definitely a "working day" ie not a Bank Holiday (I spent 20 years in Banking - the 2nd or 3rd January are only a Bank holiday if New Years Day falls on a weekend)

Sixgeese · 05/01/2015 22:25

I should say however I am talking English Bank Holidays, Scotland had more, not that I ever moaned about the fact that England only had 8...

slithytove · 05/01/2015 23:17

Yes, try

MsFeckIt · 05/01/2015 23:37

Is that LUSH? Phone them, and tell them firmly (don't ask) that you want your postage back. I did, and got it. Disorganised twats.

BikeRunSki · 05/01/2015 23:39

Do they use City Link?
