To think that Buckingham Palace SHOULDN'T have named Prince Andrew's accuser?

aermingers · 03/01/2015 23:39

I've just heard on the news that Buckingham Palace has named the person who has accused Prince Andrew of sex crimes against her. I can't find any confirmation online. But is it just me who thinks this is deeply wrong? Okay it may be technically legal because she's making the allegations in the US - but surely as potentially the victim of a sex crime they should have the decency not to name her? I'm really shocked, it just smacks of malice. And they can't even be certain she's not telling the truth.

I may be thick but I don't think I am, so can you explain mythicalkings?

Otherwise I'm going to have to scroll up and I'd rather not.

MythicalKings · 04/01/2015 16:56

Explain what?

PhaedraIsMyName · 04/01/2015 17:12

I'm not sure what the last few comments are about but my reference to "defence" was in relation to the previous criminal case.

I can see why a "plea bargain" was accepted rather than risk putting a witness in the box who would be questioned about what can be presented as a glamorous lifestyle and why she didn't walk away.

limitedperiodonly · 04/01/2015 17:17

Explain what?

Your point mythicalkings.

MythicalKings · 04/01/2015 17:36

My point it that if she has been proven to have lied about one thing how can she be believed about anything else. Thought that was fairly obvious.

limitedperiodonly · 04/01/2015 18:26

Please show where anyone involved on either side of these proceedings has been proven to have lied MythicalKings

MythicalKings · 04/01/2015 19:01

A woman claimed to have had sex with him at a certain time and place. He wasn't there. Ergo she lied.

limitedperiodonly · 04/01/2015 19:07

Him? Who he? Where? When? What woman?

whitesandstorm · 04/01/2015 19:12

The whole family disgust me.

MythicalKings · 04/01/2015 19:30

I've already quoted the man on this thread. RTFT

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 04/01/2015 19:47

What limited said. Who has said who is lying about what and where has it been proved?

If "the man" is Alan Derschowitz then a quick google tells me he is one of the men she has accused so not sure why his word would be taken as gospel?

limitedperiodonly · 04/01/2015 19:56

I have RTFT but I have obviously missed a vital point.

Just repeat it for the sake of helpfulness.

Or don't you want to be helpful?

Saltire · 04/01/2015 20:00

a comment was posted about the girl in question who had previously claimed to have had sex with BILL CLINTON. It was proved that BILL CLINTON was elsewhere at the time.
Therefore she lied, so the question was asked, if she lied about this what else has she lied about

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 04/01/2015 20:01

Yeah limited I have searched and still none the wiser.

Saltire who said she had claimed that, and that he was elsewhere?

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 04/01/2015 20:05

I wonder how this distressing fate could have befallen such an intelligent man who scrupulously insists on paying his way at all times and is very careful not to get involved with dodgy characters.

Saltire · 04/01/2015 20:06

mythicalkings posted the following, twice, further up thread

I'll repeat what I said earlier on this thread-

"I heard on the radio yesterday an interview with Alan Dershowitz who is looking at taking legal action against her and her lawyers. He said she also claims to have had sex with Bill Clinton and it can be easily proven he was elsewhere at the time.

"If she lied about that how can anything else she says be believed?" is his question."

limitedperiodonly · 04/01/2015 20:12

Saltire That's a very bold claim given that Bill Clinton is the man who's famous for claiming: 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' when in fact, he did and had to back down.

I'm baffled that you would want to stand up for him.

He's a fucking liar even though he might not have had any form of sex with this particular woman.

Inkanta · 04/01/2015 20:16
OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 04/01/2015 20:16

But Saltire the BBC says this Alan Derschowitz chap is someone who has been accused by the woman of being involved in her abuse.

So I'm not sure why mythicalkings (or you?) think that he is telling the truth.

Saltire · 04/01/2015 20:19

Where did I say I believe any of it, FGS.

Limitedperiodonly was struggling to find a post by mythicalking

I copied mythicalking post out for limitedperiodonly to read it.

That's all I did, I made no claims or said I agreed with anyone

Rivercam · 04/01/2015 20:22

I can never understand how it's okay to name the accused (and associates), but not the accuser. People's reptitations have been damaged by cases such as these, both public figures ( eg. Craig Charles - rape charge), and ordinary individuals.

MythicalKings · 04/01/2015 20:22

I believe him because he's a very respected man and he sounded really angry. And he's going to sue right back.

I guess we each have to choose who to believe. I believe all the people who saw Bill Clinton elsewhere when the woman claims he was having sex with her.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 04/01/2015 20:22

he BBC says this Alan Derschowitz chap is someone who has been accused by the woman of being involved in her abuse

he is also a slippery lawyer the last resort one, I would say first thing they try and do when backed in a corner is to discredit the witness....

The first thing they do..and of course, discrediting young abused girls is quite easy to do and accepted in our society as has been proved time and time again...flit the annoying girl away....

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 04/01/2015 20:25

I believe him because he's a very respected man and he sounded really angry. And he's going to sue right back.Grin he could be angry because he has been caught out and he is going to sue because its better to try it and win, rather than say to his family and wife and children, "yes folks, this is me!"

EveDallasRetd · 04/01/2015 20:27

Amongst other people, Roberts has claimed she was forced into sex with Derschowitz, the DoY and Clinton. The other names haven't been released yet AFAIK.

Derschowitz denies it in statement and has filed charges against her, he has also challenged her to bring a criminal case against him.

The DoY denies it and the palace has issued a statement denying it.

Clinton hasn't publicly denied it, but has issued the court (? Not sure, maybe the prosecutors or police) with an itinery showing proof that he wasn't where she said he was at the time. Derschowitz said this during the interview, and papers are reporting the same. It's being used as a 'tell' towards her character - if she is proven to have lied about Clinton then people will be less likely to believe her about anyone else.
