to take ibuprofen while breastfeeding?

Agonising ear pain and paracetamol just isnisnt helping. Ds is 19 months.
I have burst both eardrums due to an infection

Ibuprofen is perfectly safe when breastfeeding. Boots put a warning on their own brand though.

Bear in mind you can give babies ibuprofen.

Have you been given antibiotics?

On 10 days of penicillin, 2 tablets 4 times a day for the strep throat infection that has probably caused all the problems with my ears, doc thinks the antibiotic should also help with ears so just continuing with that

You can also ask the doc for codeine tablets

Yes I am breastfeeding and have been prescribed ibuprofen

Thanks ladies for advice, ended up going back to docs yesterday and they have swapped me on to amoxicillin as I have infections and ruptured eardrums in both ears.
In a bit of a state but on the mend. Hope you all had a lovely Xmas

Knackeredmerrily, codeine is no longer recommended for breastfeeding mothers,
The advice changed last year. I was prescribed it in hospital and queried it as I knew advice had changed. Was told it was fine only for another doctor to come and question me about when I would be breastfeeding, how old my baby was etc and I was told not to take any more.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen are brb fine when breastfeeding though. The breastfeeding network is good for advice.
