To think I have it worse than DH (light hearted!)

Just wondering if you can settle an ongoing argument between me and DH.

Currently, I set off to work at 7am, which means that when DD gets up at 830/9 DH has to get up with her Mon-Fri. He works 4 afternoon/ evening shifts, so is out of the house for teatime/ bath/ bed so I do the majority of this.

On a weekend we currently get up with DD 1 day each BUT DH thinks I should do both, as he is up with her during the week. My argument is that the reason I can't do the during-the-week get ups is because I have already been up and out for 2 hours when she is surfacing, so should be entitled to a lie in at the weekend!

So tell me-who is BU???

You're both equally entitled to a lie in.

How many hours do you both work ooh?

And, how old is your dd? Who looks after her during the day??

The reason you can't get up during the week is because you're already out the house. It's not like you're lazing in bed!

8:30-9am is a bloody lie in! (In this house it would be anyway)

He IBU. It should be one lie-in each at the weekend.

I knew you'd all be on my side! It's not a constant argument, but probably crops up every 4-6 weeks.

I work 30 hours, and he works 25 (but has a much longer commute), so similar. DD is 2.6. She goes to a childminder sometimes, and my sister has her some afternoons.

I forgot to ask- you say he does evening shifts, what time does he finish? It makes a difference if he is getting less sleep than you.

He finishes at 9, but doesn't usually get in til 10/1030. We tend to go to bed together around 11, unless I'm very tired and go early

I have been there doing a 2-12 shift after getting up with the dcs it is tough.

DH gets up at 5:20am so he can leave for work at 6:30am.

I don't work due to disability. DS2 (almost 18) wakes me at 8:30am with a cup of tea just before he leaves for school. I usually fall back to sleep and wake up about 10ish and have to re-heat my tea!

Every Sunday, DH gets up, let's me sleep in and brings me breakfast in bed. It's been that way ever since we got married.

You both should get a lie in on a weekend.

Neither of you are being unreasonable. Can you do it so one weekend you get a lie in, the next dh gets the lie in and the third you do one day each?
