To buy this book set and split it between two children?

I have two different children, not related to buy presents for, who are similar in age and in reading levels (y1). Would I be mean to buy this book set and split it 6 books to each child, as their present?

These are not the only two children I am buying for, they are not related to each other (should have made that clearer), but they are two children at a similar stage in reading, learning, and enjoy books.

I don't think there is anything wrong with splitting a book set into two gifts but I wouldn't buy those books as a present because they are reading books which are usually more educational than fun. I would leave reading books to parents to buy and would get something like mr men or thomas books or an annual based on the child's favourite character or tv show.

crumpet it's not essential to buy this particular booklet, but I like the look of it, and I am buying other things from tk maxx for other people, so it makes sense to buy everything at the same time. If it's not the right thing, I'll rethink, but I want to get the balance between spending the right amount of money, and buying the right gifts. It it's not right, I'll take a look at Book People too - have just had a Flash Sale with free delivery couple of days ago, missed it!

I think they look like great books for year 1,my youngest charge (im a nanny) would love them.

It's just my opinion OP. I know my kids would have loved any book at that age but would have been more pleased with a favourite character book than a set of reading books (even though they absolutely loved all books). There isn't anything wrong with the books though and splitting them would be fine.

As long as the books don't lead on from each other, do it. Though do check that if the parents wanted to buy the rest of the set for their DC in the future, they're available to buy separately, as a courtesy.

i buy sets of 10 toddler books from the Book People and use them for nursery kids birthday presents - 2 per gift

tiny I have bought from book people for party bag presents before too. I have managed to sort the dilemma of what to buy to make it over £50, not so difficult after all, bought some fun looking Christmas crackers instead
